Emobility is growing rapidly as a low carbon technological solution for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, with electric vehicle sales growing >75% in NL over the last year. Shell Retail is committed to enabling this transition to lower carbon transport whilst ensuring that our extensive service station network delivers to the needs of current and future electric vehicle owners.
The technology, developments, trends and customer needs of electric vehicle drivers are fast-moving and often hard to predict, so you will need to be clear-thinking and customer-focused to ensure that Shell delivers a future-proof EV charging network and leading customer experience. The key objective of this role is to define and coordinate the delivery of Shell’s EV rapid charging offer and experience, to enable stress-free, simple, fast and convenient charging on-the-go.
In the electric vehicle charging sector there are many varied competitors including auto-manufactures, utilities, digital start-ups and energy companies. To thrive in this dynamic environment and establish Shell as a leading EV charging network, you will need strong commercial capability as well as determination and resilience.
This is a demanding and highly-rewarding role which will shape an emerging sector at the centre of the energy transition over the coming decades.
What’s the role?
This role has the responsibility to define Shell’s EV rapid charging strategy and customer offer across Benefrux, with a focus on Netherlands. This requires identifying customer segments, developing the customer offer, driving business model innovation, planning and executing the deployment
Accountable driving implementation and coordinating the E-mobility investment and shaping of customer offer in a way that Shell achieves market leadership in this segment. Working closely with the Network team, you will ensure that the EV charging network roll out delivers the desired customer experience
Operating safely and sustainably is core to Shell’s commitment to doing business in socially and environmentally responsible ways. You will ensure that the rapid charging network is in line with high standards of the Shell Group
Collaborating with marketing you will build awareness, preference and utilisation of the charging network, to deliver revenue and profit targets.
Explore ways in which Shell Retail can lead the market for rapid EV charging. Assess market developments, stay close consumers and B2B customers and engage regularly with internal and external SMEs.
Work with cross discipline experts (e.g. New Energies, Projects and Technologies, NewMotion, IT) to ensure alignment with wider Shell Group emobility and energy strategy
Drive the set-up and automation of Emobility related OTC processes, MI and HBE Credit claims
Manage key partnerships and suppliers, including NewMotion and Allego
Deliver IT and digital innovation and development through internal resources and external partners
Take a European view to ensure that drivers can easily move across borders and between different networks
Work with External Relations to position Shell Retail as a leader and enabler of EV adoption and growth. Represent Shell in industry groups and external bodies

What we need from you
You’ll need as many of the following as possible on your CV:
Strong commercial mindset, highly numerate and able to quickly appraise the business opportunity and understand potential value, risks and trade-offs. Understanding the potential for market share and income growth from different business channels
Strong track record of business development, relationship building, and leading successful negotiations is essential
Excellent project leadership and delivery skills; able to deliver fast, agile implementation of pilots and then subsequent rapid roll outs
Experience in managing customer offers with digital
Curiosity and an ability to seek out relevant new solutions to develop the future EV charging offers
Ability to understand customer needs and a relentless drive to ensure high customer satisfaction
Strong interpersonal skills and high appreciation of working cross discipline.
Thorough understanding of the regulatory environment, insights in customer future needs and an appreciation of the competitive landscape
Strong knowledge of retail operations to understand go live and rollout challenges
