Under direct supervision of the Registered Nurse according to standard procedure, the surgical technician assists the endoscopy team through case preparation, procedural assistance, and after care of endoscopy patients, equipment and supplies. The technician also participates in unit activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assists in delivery of patient care.
o Assembles and prepares for procedures.
o Participates in performance of procedures.
o Assists with procedure completion.
o Assists with delivery of age appropriate care to patients.
o Assists with patient transport to and from Endoscopy Lab.
· Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
o Insures availability of safe instruments and equipment.
o Participates in performance improvement activities.
o Takes appropriate action to prevent/manage accidents in the area.
· Participate in unit activities.
o Participates in budget and inventory control.
o Participates in staff and self-development.
o Performs other duties as delegated.
o Demonstrates positive customer service skills.
o Facilitates cohesiveness.
EDUCATION Required: Graduation from an accredited high school or GED certificate. Completion of accredited Surgical Technologist Program and qualifications for certification or evidence of surgical technician skills and experience
Required: One year of experience in Endoscopy or certified with no previous experience; good customer relation's skills; effective verbal, written, and face-to-face communication skills.
