American Water Construction Inspector/Project Manager w/Electrical Experience in Sacramento, California

If so, then being a Construction Inspector with California American Water may be a great fit! The Construction Inspector willl be responsible for the on-site inspection of Operations construction work for water resource projects.

  • Key Accountabilities*

  • Conducts on-site inspections of operations projects to ensure conformance to contract documents.

  • Works with Operations leads to determine electrical and mechanical repairs. (50%)

  • Oversees compliance with the requirements of permits or approvals granted for construction.

  • Coordinate with permitting agencies for inspections and certifications of compliance. (5%)

  • Represents the Water Company as the primary point of on-site contact for construction contractors.

  • Serve as a liasion between construction contractors and the Water Company.

  • Works with Procurement in hiring contractors to complete work as needed. (15%)

  • Serve as the on-site liasion between Operations and to resolve questions related to assigned projects.

  • Works with contractors and operations to efficiently package work to offer the best and cost effective results. (15%)

  • Prepare project documentation in accordance with Company Standards.

  • Maintains records of work changes and assists in preparation of "as built" drawings. (10%)

  • Review and approval of construction contractor progress payments. (5%)

  • Knowledge/Skills*

  • Knowledge of federal and company safety regulations, and knowledge of critical path and method scheduling principles.

  • Knowledge of SCADA, PLC, electrical controls as well as an understanding of pumps, well and motors is preferred.

  • Strong coordinating and organizing skills.

  • Ability to read engineering plans and specifications.

  • Communication skills (e.g., verbal, listening and recording).

  • Interpersonal skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, persuasion, cooperation).

  • Attention to details.

  • Ability to respond to emergencies.

  • Experience/Education*

/ Experience:/

  • Four (4) years experience on major construction projects.

/ Education:/

  • High School diploma or state recognized Educational Equivalency Certificate required.

  • Travel Requirements*

  • 15% Travel Required.

  • Licenses & Certifications*

  • CA Electrical license preferred.

  • Water licenses preferred - D1 / T1
