Oracle Consulting Portfolio Director | Oracle Utilities in Sacramento, California

This director position is responsible for managing business operations and resources of a given project portfolio which can be defined by industry, service line, technology center, specialty area or region. Responsibilities include people management, project oversight, and sales enablement. Accountable for fulfilling business goals, meeting budgets, maintaining project/portfolio profitability while ensuring quality of project delivery and maintaining customer referenceability.

Develops strategy and plans to successfully implement operational policies and achieve portfolio performance in support of strategic objectives. Responsible for solutions and pricing of proposals and supporting the sales process. Is accountable for managing a significant and profitable revenue stream. Typically manages multiple project/program managers and/or senior level individual contributors. May serve as advisor or project sponsor role for moderately complex engagements.

10 years of experience relevant to this position, including 2 years of project or direct line management experience. Demonstrated ability to follow solid project management principles and successfully manage projects of increasing complexity. Comfortable working in a matrix management environment. Strong influencing and negotiation skills to deal with internal stakeholders, customers and vendors. Product, technology or industry expertise relevant to the portfolio focus. Selling skills preferred. Ability to travel as needed.

Consulting ProjectPortfolio Director | Oracle Utilities

TheConsulting Portfolio Director for Oracle Utilities is responsible for managingthe business operations and resources for an Oracle Utilities ProductImplementation Project Portfolio within our North America Practice.

Responsibilities includepeople management, project oversight, and sales enablement. Accountable forfulfilling business goals, meeting budgets, maintaining project/portfolioprofitability while ensuring quality of project delivery and maintainingcustomer reference ability. Develops strategy and plans to successfullyimplement operational policies and achieve portfolio performance in support ofstrategic objectives. Responsible for risk review and pricing of proposals andsupporting the sales process. Is accountable for managing a significant andprofitable revenue stream. Typically manages multiple project/program managersand/or senior level individual contributors.

Ability to travel as required.

/Key Accountabilities:/

1. Work Management

  • Ensure the portfolio has the necessary skills and expertise assigned by the resourcing team to deliver projects; anticipate product and technology requirements and ensure project teams are equipped to deliver the scope of the project

  • Serve as advisor or project sponsor role for moderately complex engagements

  • Provide oversight to projects within portfolio to ensure high customer satisfaction in a profitable manner. Support triage and remediation of troubled accounts

  • Ensure project managers and teams adhere to appropriate methodologies, consistently utilize Oracle best practices to accomplish assigned work product, and comply to all project standards

  • Engage with project managers/leads, review project status and financial reporting and monitor margin performance

  • Participate in and comply with project quality reviews

  • Review portfolio performance to assess and respond to risks and issues

  • Participate in the development of plans and lead implementation of programs/processes that support the practice strategy and contribute to growth (e.g., reusable solutions/project documentation, effective proposal material, etc.)

  • Review and approve deals within the portfolio to ensure the development of sound consulting business

2. Financial Management and Administration

  • Manage business operations/resources in a manner that fulfils business goals, meets budgets.

  • Translate practice goals to specific targets and budgets for the portfolio

  • Work through managers to achieve project baseline margins, headcount and costs within targeted goals, bench targets, utilization goal, prepare and submit staffing and revenue forecasts, review and approve expenses, and ensure invoice accuracy

  • Submit revenue forecast/financial plans.

  • Review financial project reporting

  • Ensure compliance with Oracle policies for Work-At-Risk, invoicing and receivables

*3. PeopleManagement *

  • Collaborate with Sales team and forecast resource demand.

  • Oversee recruiting, interviewing, hiring and on-boarding efforts for area of responsibility

  • Work with direct reports and project team members to set objectives, review performance regularly, and ensure execution of Individual Development Plans (IDP)

  • Drive collection of project performance feedback for direct reports Deliver on-time performance appraisals and develop training and career plans for direct reports; ensure timely delivery of performance appraisals for area of responsibility

  • Conduct regular and frequent communication with team.

*4. Business Development *

  • Participate in development of account plan with Sales, as needed Collaborate with consulting and license sales as a domain expert or identify domain experts to participate in sales pursuits, as needed Coach team to identify expansion and extension opportunities

  • Support business development effort, including creation of business value propositions, proposals, scoping documents, costs estimates, presentations, discovery workshops, and project plans in support of sales;

  • Promote a business development mindset within the team

  • Identify and cultivate customer references

  • Leverage referenceable customers within practice to enable future sales.

  • 10 years of experience in the Utilities Vertical (Electric, Gas, or Water)

  • Experience overseeing Software Delivery Projects for Utility companies with a strong preference for Oracle Utilities Products but competing software products ok.

  • 8 years of Consulting / Professional Services Project Management experience

  • Must have had Direct Reports (hire / fire / reviews)

  • Management of other Project Managers as a Portfolio or Program Manager

  • Project Management Certification Level 4-5; or equivalent

  • Bachelor's Degree or greater highly desired

This role can be basedanywhere in the US and can require up to 75% travel
