The Production Solutions Engineer is responsible for leading a long-term, internal business engagement between Doe & Ingalls and the legacy Patheon Biologics business, a business unit that is part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific Pharma Services Group (PSG). This collaboration is focused on leveraging Doe & Ingalls core competencies to optimize production raw material supply chain operations for the PSG biologics manufacturing facility in St. Louis, MO. Included in scope of responsibilities is collaborative development and implementation of improved supply chain processes and services as well as fulfilling a business development role for leveraging this engagement to expand the Doe & Ingalls services portfolio and value proposition.
Work with business sponsors from PSG and Doe & Ingalls to refine and execute the overall objectives for the engagement.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in key PSG processes and utilize cross functional teams and PPI business system tools, such as process mapping, to develop and execute solutions; determine and document the quantified value of the solution.
Use solutions to define or improve a business/service model that support sustainable improvement in the Biopharmaceutical industry.
Work with PCC marketing and portfolio management to “productize” the implemented solutions into PCC services that can be marketed to other PCC Customers.
Drive continuous improvement of existing supply chain operations at PSG St. Louis site including monitoring of key metrics and development of additional indicators as needed.
Liaise with PCC Marketing and Portfolio teams to contribute to Sales Team trainings in the area of supply chain offerings and value proposition.
Provide business development support to PCC Commercial team for opportunities with other Doe & Ingalls biologics manufacturing customers. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, or supply chain
3+ years professional experience in Life Science manufacturing operations and/or supply chain
Demonstrated project management skills and ability in working with cross functional team to accomplish successful results for complex projects
Strong analytical, statistical, and process design skills
Experience presenting to senior leadership both internally and to Customers
Exposure to cGMP Quality Systems
Demonstrate a proficiency in Lean/Process Improvement execution to analyze and solve strategic and systemic problems
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to travel 10-15% of the time
Willingness to relocate after completion of initial St. Louis project (duration TBD)
Six Sigma Green Belt certification or above
Advanced degree in operations or supply chain
