Wells Fargo Investment Institute (WFII) is focused on delivering the highest quality investment research, guidance and portfolio management solutions to better enable our advisors and relationship managers to help WIM clients meet their financial goals.

This position resides within the WFII Global Portfolio Management group (GPM) which is responsible for developing and managing centralized portfolio management solutions that implement WFII strategy. These strategies, with more than $115 billion in AUM as of October 31, 2018, serve the investment needs of our clients in WIM’s Wealth Management and Wells Fargo Advisors businesses and include the Guided Portfolio Strategies, FundSource and Allocation Advisors product families.

This is a multi-faceted opportunity to work with a focused, highly talented investment team. We are seeking a well-rounded Portfolio Analyst that will assist the GPM portfolio management team responsible for managing the Compass Asset Allocation program, a series of portfolios that implement all of WFII’s strategic and tactical asset class guidance with AUM of approximately $10 billion. This individual will work directly with management and senior portfolio managers to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for investment decision-making, security selection/oversight, portfolio construction, risk management and strategy communications. In addition, the incumbent will provide support as needed to other GPM investment programs and participate in broader GPM research efforts.

This position will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide Portfolio Managers with analytic support and monitoring for risk management, portfolio construction and trading

  • Complete regular tasks that include portfolio characteristics, return information, performance attribution, trading rationales and strategy commentary

  • Participate in security selection process and provide direct research support for securities including individual equities and ETFs

  • Provide quantitative and qualitative research support to other GPM initiatives as needed

Location: St. Louis MO preferred, other locations considered

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of investment research experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or economics

  • Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills

  • Ability to be flexible and adjust plans quickly to meet changing business needs

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or demonstrated progress toward the designation
