Manage a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.
As a Senior Director in the product development division, you will lead a team that defines product specifications and or strategy. Gather and analyze information to define product specifications and review design specifications. Envision and communicate product strategy and functionality. Initiate and foster relationships with other groups. Review product documentation and collateral. Ensure successful product releases based on corporate priorities.
Directs and ensures the implementation of operational policies through subordinate managers. Interacts internally and externally with executive management, providing negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy. Functional expertise and broad company knowledge important. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development and product management. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience preferred.

Senior Solutions Director, Planning & Optimization Strategy
The Oracle Retail Solutions Management team is a collection of top retail industry experts with deep retail expertise, strong solution knowledge and a solid background in solution marketing. The team is responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and requirements for Oracle Retail s suite of solutions. As a lead member of the Solutions Management team, you will work closely with solution engineering, sales, and marketing to ensure current solution portfolio goals are being met and that we are driving innovation in the market. You will be expected to work closely with cross-functional teams to define and execute go to market strategies and product vision, partner with marketing to position, message & launch products, perform market research to understand customer needs and market opportunities and work closely with sales to define and execute sales strategies.
The Sr. Solutions Director for Planning & Optimization is a global role, responsible for defining the go-to-market strategy and solution direction for the Oracle Retail Planning & Optimization Suite. The Sr. Solution Director is also responsible for leading cross-functional teams tasked with defining the detailed solution and market requirements to meet the strategic direction and ultimately executing against the plan.
Key Requirements and Responsibilities
Act as subject matter expert for Oracle Retail planning strategy and its related market
Research, understand and communicate the retail planning and optimization competitive landscape
Act as product owner for a set of planning applications including Merchandising Financial Planning, Assortment & Item Planning, and Category Management
Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new and innovative products/services/processes
Assist in the design of internal processes for optimizing our SaaS business over time
Own portfolio definition related to cloud and planning strategy from vision, roadmap to detailed product requirements
Drive cloud and planning strategy in a direction that translates into high-value customer satisfaction
Participate and help launch projects to prepare new cloud services for the market
Lead and influence product teams to invest and iterate on the right product features, with a focus on next-generation planning concepts
Evaluate and deliver pricing strategies & pricing models for SaaS cloud services and fully understand underlying cost models in order to create business cases and margin calculations for prospective solutions
Engage with software development teams to define the technical deployment architecture for cloud services, based on the target market definition
Engage with product development teams to set the technology platform strategy such as determining which server operating systems and versions to support, which versions of database and middleware to upgrade to, desktop/browser and mobile support strategy, etc.
Evaluate and prioritize any software enhancements or service offering modifications that help drive lower costs and thus higher margins
Closely collaborate with development teams to define, design, and adapt capabilities
Influence pricing, packaging, and positioning
Run effective beta programs and collect continuous customer feedback
Collaborate with product marketing on release, market positioning, and GTM training, as well as strategies and tactics to drive product adoption post-launch
Partner with sales and marketing to deliver high-quality content, positioning and demand generation programs
Work closely with sales and marketing organizations to launch to maximize adoption of new solution services/features
Present solution strategy to internal audiences, customers, conference attendees, partners, media and analysts
Establish, track and report on metrics to measure the success of each service offering and release
Balance strategic imperatives with daily tactical needs
Work collaboratively with other solution leads to deliver a connected retail solution to the market
Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical products and features into value-based, intuitive concepts and graphics
Ability to work in a non-routine and very complex environment, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of retail planning
Comfortable leading a team of domain experts and working in a highly matrixed organization (leading through influence)
BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area
5 years of software engineering and/or software product management experience preferred
10 years experience working with, implementing or selling retail planning tools
Large organization/mature retail process experience is a requirement
Ability to travel 30%
