Transdev Project Engineer in San Dima, California

Overview

Assist the Construction Estimating Manager and Chief Estimator; provide office engineering, contract administration /document control support including; RFP / ITB/ IFB bid documents understanding, blue print reading and quantity survey/take-off, Request for Information, bid assembly and submittal process. As well as, provide field support and assist PMs in project quality control and tracking of labor, materials and equipment on projects.

Responsibilities

Bid Estimating:

  • Bid documents download, reading and understanding of project scope.

  • Bid drawings reading, interpretation and perform (track) quantity survey/take-off.

  • Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks.

  • Bid packaging development and help solicit subcontractors and suppliers quotes.

  • Perform other office functions when delegated to do so.

Project Start-up and Scheduling:

  • Assists in the development of the site utilization plan.

  • Assists Project Manager / Superintendent in the review and coordination of the Loss Prevention, Sustainability Action Plan and Quality Control Program.

  • Develops submittal log, participate in subcontractor project orientation meetings, communicate and coordinate submittal and coordinate drawings with subcontractor project orientation.

Project Administration, Coordination and Close-out:

  • Responsible for proactive administration of reviewing and processing all submittal data and shop drawings to ensure project schedules are expedited and materials are delivered on time.

  • Serves as the onsite quality manager for assigned trades by verifying subcontractor deliveries meet approved submittal requirements.

  • Attends and participates in meetings with Architect/Engineers and owner representatives, provides information and assists the Project Manager in the preparation of progress reports/meeting minutes.

  • Distributes proposal change document to subcontractors/suppliers and assists in collecting pricing and/or prepares change proposal requests for internal pricing review.

  • Ensures all clarifications, changes, directives, RFIs, etc., are updated on the “as built” drawings and are fully coordinated with company supervision and all subcontractor/suppliers in scheduling owner required close-out documents and assisting subcontractors/suppliers in scheduling owner required training and documentation.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record with no more than three (3) moving violations, and no prior DUI's within the last three (3) years

  • HB Estimating program preferred, but not required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or relevant Engineering degree

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years of construction experience (railroad construction) preferred, but not required

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Knowledge of MS office products

  • Project scheduling software (P6 MS Project, etc.)
