We are seeking a talented, highly motivated and experienced commercial lead for AI-powered offerings serving the Life Sciences industry. This role will report to the VP, Life Sciences and Personal Health within Watson Health, and will be a member of the Life Sciences Leadership team, directing priorities and leading compelling cloud-based cognitive products meeting the needs of the pharma market. The ideal candidate has experience across commercial strategy, business model innovation, product management, or incubation of new products for the Life Sciences. A proven track record consulting to Life Sciences market is highly valued. The focus of the role will be on emerging products in the drug discovery, clinical research and trial recruitment spaces. Opportunities exist to engage on portfolio management, business development, and commercial development space.

What will you do:

  • Serve as the domain lead on a dynamic product management team focused on transforming drug discovery and clinical trials

  • Be a part of Watson Health’s Life Sciences AI/Cognitive Product Management Team, identifying and prioritizing new products to bring to market, and managing that product from conceptualization to validation to minimal viable product to scale

  • Serve as the team lead for product management as teams expand, providing leadership, business accountability and product strategy for the respective product

  • Provide insight into how life sciences companies and biotechs design, discover, develop, and market modern therapeutics across multiple therapeutic areas

  • Work across Watson Health and IBM as the lead product manager to inform cross-discipline teams of development, design, marketing, communications, and sales to deliver scalable, Life Sciences offerings focused on the power of cognitive

  • Serve as an emerging thought leader in the growing intersection of augmented intelligence, cloud based digital products, and life sciences

You are:

  • A highly skilled commercial strategist and/or consultant in life sciences with both depth and breadth across the business of pharma, clinical research and drug discovery

  • Passionate about transforming healthcare and life sciences

  • Comfortable working in an emerging area with ample whitespace

  • Excited about working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities

  • An exceptional verbal and written communicator with a proven track record of building consensus within large organizations and disparate groups of stakeholders

  • Exceptionally organized and comfortable working with offering/product, engineering, and design teams

  • Committed to supporting a culture of diversity and inclusion

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience, Life Sciences consulting industry experience in clinical research, or product management experience

  • B.S., M.S., MBA or PhD

  • Experience collaborating and leading in a matrixed environment

  • Exposure to building SaaS products in an agile environment

  • Working knowledge of SaaS business models and technical environments

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • 10+ years of industrial pharmaceutical industry experience or consulting industry experience in drug discovery or broader pharma R+D

  • Experience in strategy, pharma marketing, digital health or software development

  • Ability to develop a product vision and work towards development incrementally

  • Understanding of real world evidence (RWE) data and its application

  • Strong external presence and network through participation in conferences and professional societies and advisory boards
