Compensation Strategies Senior Consultant

Work you ll do

As a Deloitte Consulting Broad Based Compensation Sr. Consultant in the Rewards practice of Deloitte s Human Capital group, you will work on a number of market offerings including:

  • Compensation program design

  • Job architecture/design

  • Compensation functional design

  • M&A integration support

In addition to applying these skills in traditional settings, our consultants provide advisory services related to these issues in mergers and acquisitions, governance and risk management, enterprise cost reduction efforts, and other transformational business initiatives. Specifically, a Compensation Strategies Senior Consultant may perform the following job responsibilities:

Market Analysis

  • Assess the competitiveness of pay and program features relative to market practices

  • Benchmark annual incentive plans and long-term incentive plan design and practices

  • Conduct custom practices and total cash compensation surveys

  • Conduct statistical analyses of compensation data

  • Model financial impact of compensation plans

  • Identify, model and implement performance metrics in support of compensation plan analysis and design

  • Develop custom compensation reports and manage large databases

Program Development/Design

  • Work with a wide variety of public and private sector clients to develop pay programs to drive strategy

  • Develop job analysis programs

  • Develop pay structures using a variety of methodologies

  • Design short and long-term incentive programs to support client strategies and financial goals

  • Participate in program implementation activities including client education and training

  • Interact and consult directly with clients on a variety of compensation issues and in support of analysis and program design

  • Prepare client reports including all exhibits and summaries

Other

  • Participate in marketing initiatives including writing proposals

  • Research and speech preparation for internal and external presentation

  • Potential to participate in broader total rewards projects including performance management, total rewards communications, employee benefits, retirement and healthcare

  • Provide technical leadership to Compensation Consultants and Analysts

  • Lead significant portions of large client projects and workstreams

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 4 years of experience in compensation in the public or private sector or a compensation consulting background

  • Strong knowledge of compensation surveys, custom survey design and statistical analysis, incentive plan design and analysis, job evaluation methodologies and pay structure analysis and design

  • Ability to travel at least 50%

  • Experience managing small to medium sized teams

Preferred:

  • Understanding of compensation-related regulations

  • Understanding of standard compensation processes such as pay administration, merit planning, pay-for-performance and job analysis

  • Willingness to travel up to 80%

  • Expert proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
