Oracle Industry Services Leader in San Jose, California
Overlay sales personnel providing specialist product expertise to the sales force.
Manages and directs a staff of solution specialists and/or managers in providing specific industry or product expertise to facilitate the closing of deals within sales territory. Establishes and communicates departmental objectives and implements plans to ensure attainment of business objectives. Works closely with sales management to ensure proper utilization of resources and provides justification for additional resource requests. Oversees the Interaction with sales team to architect the solution, and develop and execute solution strategies for market. Manages teams in the sales process for establishing market visibility and deal visibility. Develops forecasts. Participates in industry/product functions, seminars and round tables to remain up to date on industry or product knowledge. May deliver presentations/solutions to high level clients and industry conference attendees. May provide training to field sales on industry/solutions.
Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations is important.

The advent of cloud technology has kicked off the 4th Industrial Revolution. Oracle s industry-leading Cloud is fueling enterprise digital innovation and transformation at many of the largest brands in world.
The Oracle Cloud Applications organization has an immediate opening for the Leader of our Industry Services team. This team is a high-performing group of talented, seasoned executives who specialize in being the knowledge experts in their respective industry. They are the standard-bearers of Oracle Cloud applications to customer executives. The team works directly with customers using their deep business experience and robust knowledge of industry issues, trends, regulations and overall industry market landscape to identify business and digital transformation opportunities that can substantially improve our customers business when powered by Oracle Cloud applications. In addition, this team provides Industry-based thought leadership and guidance to key Oracle stakeholders by:
Leading the development of Industry-related messaging and content
Identifying Industry-specific transformation themes with key business opportunities
Identifying Industry-based solution sets and solution scenarios (use cases)
Working actively with Oracle s Product Development and Solution Engineering teams on industry-based needs and requirements
The leader of the Industry Services team will be responsible to evolve the team capability, ensuring the continued growth of the team members. The leader will also ensure the team s programs to develop and deliver Industry-relevant content to the Oracle Cloud Applications organization are planned, executed, delivered and communicated. The leader will also be customer-facing, leading by example and bringing Industry-relevant transformational thought leadership to Oracle s customers and prospects.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated business and digital transformation experience in more than one industry, specifically in driving business imperatives that yield substantial value for customers. She or he will have a knack for identifying business opportunities and technology patterns across unrelated industries. The candidate must have a passion for learning and be able to learn new industries rapidly. She or he will also have business experience in functional areas spanning Finance, Accounting, Operations, Supply Chain & Manufacturing, Human Resources and Customer Engagement including Sales, Service, Marketing and Field Service.
This is a people management role and successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record of recruiting, hiring, creating and leading high performing teams.
Candidates with demonstrated cloud experience specifically with leading or playing a key part in Oracle Cloud applications implementations will distinguish themselves for this role.
The Industry Services Leader will lead and manage a team of Industry Executive Directors:
- This team is responsible for:
o Executive-level customer engagements which bring Industry thought leadership and credentials to sales conversations
o Identifying, creating and releasing Industry-relevant content to internal Oracle stakeholders
o Industry leadership driving industry alignment within the Oracle Cloud Applications organization
Assist and support team members in their work and foster growth and continuous development
Manage the day to day activities of team members, including customer engagements and program-related work
The Industry Services Leader will also:
Create, evolve, maintain and communicate the team s vision, mission and strategy
Develop partnerships with key internal Oracle stakeholder groups, such as Sales, Product Marketing, Product Development, Solution Engineering, and Oracle Consulting
Create or evolve programs to drive Industry-relevant content and requirements from customers into the Oracle Cloud applications organization
Oversee, manage and report status of Industry Services programs
Communicate broadly the release and update of Industry-relevant content through structured communications and change management plans
Drive awareness of team capability and activity via networking broadly across Oracle
Maintain an always-current view of the team s progress against goals with supporting detail

People Management and Leadership; This individual must have a demonstrated experience and track record of recruiting, hiring, creating and leading high performing teams. This involves managing all aspects of the team including interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring & coaching, support, feedback, incentives, rewards, MBOs & performance management, travel and PTO. This individual must have an infectiously positive leadership style, striving to continuously improve and inspire a growth mindset.
Operational Management; This individual has demonstrated experience owning and managing the operations of a highly visible and active team. This includes defining / refining key performance indicators, monitoring budget compliance and ensuring comprehensive and consistent support to meet the needs of the team. This individual maintains an always-current view of the team s progress.
Program and Change Management; This individual must oversee and actively manage programs that drive the team s Industry-based agenda. This includes ensuring there is a plan that is communicated with status and updates on a regular basis, with requisite communications and change management plans to launch program output to a broad group of Oracle stakeholders.
Sales Acumen & Sales Leadership; This individual will regularly interface with senior sales leaders and sales professionals on customer engagements. She or he will contribute directly to the development and progression of large, transformational deals that include the complete Oracle Cloud applications suite. Demonstrated experience in enterprise cloud / software sales and/or pre-sales environments is highly desirable.
Professionalism; This individual has a high degree of demonstrated confidentiality, maturity, tactfulness and business ethics.
Organization and Communications; This individual is a self-starter that operates independently with little supervision, and has strong planning, organization, critical thinking, decision-making and communication (verbal and written) skills
Evangelism; This team is the standard bearer for Oracle s Cloud applications and its leader must be passionate about how the Cloud can power business and digital transformations.
Flexibility and Adaptability; This individual has the ability cope with a sometimes ambiguous and changing environment, and must have an unfailing sense of humor
o Minimum fifteen (15) or more years of professional experience
o Role-specific Experience, including:
5 years in management consulting and/or business consulting in top tier management consulting providers, AND/OR
5 years in enterprise/cloud software pre-sales leadership
Direct sales and sales leadership experience is highly desirable
o Industry Experience; Demonstrated 3 years of leadership experience in three (3) or more of the following Industries:
Financial Services (Banking, Insurance)
Retail & CPG
Communications & High Technology
Manufacturing & Supply Chain
Healthcare (Provider & Life Sciences)
Functional & Cloud Experience; This individual has business and functional experience spanning several of the following: Finance, Accounting, Operations, Supply Chain & Manufacturing, Human Resources and Customer Engagement including Sales, Service, Marketing and Field Service. Priority will be given to candidates with prior experience in Oracle Cloud applications (ERP, EPM, SCM, HCM, CX).
o Undergraduate degree; preferably in a quantitative field (e.g. computer science, engineering, operations research, quantitative analysis, mathematics or similar field)
o Master s in Business Administration (MBA)
