Lead a mechanical engineering team developing multiple scientific and medical instruments.
Define and establish clear objectives and expectations, provide direct feedback routinely for performance management.
Participate as a core team member for development projects.
Establish performance indicators for projects in area of responsibility that drive change and visibility to the team and leadership.
Use prioritization mechanisms to utilize resources across multiple teams to complete the work on-hand.
Document SOP’s and work instructions to define processes and procedures.
Partner with Operations and Product Support throughout product lifecycle.
Work with Quality Assurance to address customer complaints, identify root causes and improve team efforts. Requirements:
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
15+ years of experience developing instruments or devices for production.
3+ years of experience leading a team from either a project or functional manager role.
Experience on a product development team from initial investigation and design through to manufacturing introduction.
Developed products that meet regulatory standard for sale in international markets.
Developed products under a quality system that meets ISO9001, ISO13485 or FDA regulations.
Practical experience with a continuous improvement system such as Six Sigma, Lean or PPI.
Good oral and written communication skills,
Experience using an office productivity suite.
This position requires occasional travel to other Thermo Fisher Scientific, and partner sites worldwide (0 – 10%).
