Job Description

IBM Cloud Managed Application Services ( https://www.ibm.com/services/cloud/managed ) enables clients to migrate their most demanding IT workloads to an enterprise-ready IBM managed cloud platform in order to achieve greater flexibility and reducing costs, increasing agility and freeing up staff resources.

Sales Engineers are key members of the IBM sales team, responsible for designing solutions for customer workloads that typically run in IBM’s enterprise managed cloud platform. This position will require proactive and technical leadership throughout the sales cycle, from initial requirements gathering, to qualification, solution design and pricing, to contract signature and finally, hand-off to delivery.

Sales Engineers create and maintain strong, trusted internal and client relationships at all levels. They design solution recommendations for their clients by applying their broad technical skills, industry knowledge and business acumen. These recommendations leverage IBM technologies, architectures, integrated solutions, hybrid cloud patterns, and other offerings to solve the client's business challenges and deliver tangible business value.

Preferred location: West Coast but open to any US location.

Skills:

Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas of application focus: ERP systems (one or more of SAP HANA, Oracle Applications, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards), leading eCommerce systems, Microsoft Exchange, Skype for Business and SharePoint, leading Cloud platforms, SaaS, PaaS and IaaS solution scenarios, total IT outsourcing scenarios, Security Services and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, PCI, FFIEC, GDPR, ITAR) for IT systems. In all the above, exhibit an ability to engage and communicate effectively with respect to the entire application stack, from infrastructure and networking to end user functionality.

Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple distinct pursuit teams in parallel is a critical aspect of the position.

Ability to independently prepare effective deliverables on short timelines is required.

Expertise and knowledge of our clients’ industries (Distribution, Financial, Industrial, Public Sector, Healthcare, and/or Communications) is highly desirable.

Exhibit professional mastery related to sales operations, strategies, and objectives in leading edge or critical situations.

Business travel 20-40% on average.

Responsible for committing multiple resources and achieving customer satisfaction, cost, expense, revenue and other business measurements of critical importance. Responsible for quality output/value add for highly visible products, services and future business development.
