Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Stormwater Construction Services Manager for immediate employment in the Sandy Springs, GA office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Meets with professional consultants, design project managers, and project inspectors to develop phasing plan, work restrictions, and construction schedules

  • Chairs preconstruction meetings and construction progress meetings

  • Resolves unforeseen site conditions, unplanned interferences, utility delays, contract discrepancies, and other construction conflict problems and disputes between contractor, site staff, inspector, project manager, and professional consultants

  • Monitors construction progress and costs; take corrective action as required to manage both schedule and budget

  • Maintains complete and accurate construction & financial records for assigned projects in accordance with Federal, State, Department, and City policies (Davis Bacon Wage reporting requirements, etc.)

  • Provides continuous coordination between all stakeholders

  • Administers the change order process; reviews requests for schedule or cost adjustment and negotiates changes to the contract; prepares change order documents for approval

  • Evaluates, approves, and processes the contractor’s request for payment

  • Maintains project documentation files

  • Provides guidance and direction as needed to project inspectors

  • Maintains assigned vehicle to prescribed preventive maintenance standards, and submits vehicular reports in a timely manner

  • Responsible for the overall progress of the project as well as the scheduling/tracking of contractors/workers and the delivery of equipment and materials

  • Responds to questions and concerns and ensure that all complaints from elected officials and the community are handled promptly and properly

  • Remains current on Municipal and industry construction practices

  • Records daily work activity via written reports and photographs and completes necessary erosion and sediment site compliance reviews/inspections and paperwork

  • Manages the project close out phase, including certificate of substantial completion, punchlist, and receipt of as-builts, warrantees, and manuals

  • Uses word processing, spreadsheet, database, and scheduling software applications to prepare correspondence, reports, schedule, and other documents related to the project

  • Provides continuous effort to improve operations, decreases turnaround times, streamlines processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or demonstrated equivalent such as a combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in stormwater construction management

  • Strong technical background with the construction of various types of stormwater projects including roadway drainage improvements, storm pipe and culvert replacements, stormwater control measures/best management practices, and watershed improvement projects

  • The ability to get along with other coworkers, contractors and city officials is required

  • Requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; dangerous and/or hazardous environments; must be flexible and able to adapt to frequent changes in work priorities

  • Incumbent is expected to meet attendance standards as determined by management. Employee must be available and willing to work according to the assigned schedule. Must be available and willing to work overtime, (including daily, weekend and holidays) as determined by management as necessary to meet the business needs;

  • Incumbent will perform duties in a combination of outside work and an office environment. Job requires employee to perform duties at a job site; at times working along and at times working very closely with others

  • Position requires outside work, subject to all types of weather and temperature conditions. Incumbents may be exposed to chemicals, solvents, fumes, smoke, and gases and various types of surfaces, including slippery or uneven surfaces

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, the use of both eyes and the ability to adjust focus

  • Must be able to move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and up to twenty pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active work

  • The candidate must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and policies

  • Must posses a valid Driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Georgia Department of Transportation construction specifications and guidelines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Local government work experience is a plus

  • Experience with stormwater construction contractors in Georgia is preferred

  • Proven experience delivering multiple projects on time and within budget
