Oracle Field Support Specialist 4 in Santa Clara, California

Responsible for providing the first line of on-site field system support that includes hardware, software, software applications, and networking to customers and field personnel on-site at customers or remotely.

Provides a high level of customer satisfaction through the effective delivery of technical support and service programs. Customer support specifications may include product performance / maintenance, product installation, project management, site planning and professional services. Pro-actively coordinates resources, problem resolution, problem escalation, and the use of system level diagnostics. Understands service processes and options that are linked with the customers specifications. Able to identify and solve a wide range of problems. Needs a 24-hour commitment to support customer specifications which may also be fulfilled by participation in the regional standby rotation. Works primarily at customer sites.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 8 years relevant work experience. BS/BA preferred.

This position will provide remote and onsite support for a large US Defense Department customer using commodity SPARC based systems.

Duties include setup and configuration, back end support for Government personnel in the administration of Solaris 11 systems. Maintenance and support of supporting management infrastructure, including security profile of the infrastructure.

Working with Customer, team and Premier Support personnel to support and help manage Customer issues and escalations. Solid Solaris administration skills are essential to this position. Exposure to Solaris 10 is an asset, but not a requirement. Understanding and experience with Oracle Operations Center is an asset.

Primary interface is with Gov't personnel, obtaining a US security clearance will be required as part of the position. After clearance is obtained, a Government laptop will be issued to to allow for secure remote login (supports work from home).

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. This is largely a self driven position, working with a large existing team. Some travel is required.

US Citizenship is a mandatory US Government requirement.
