Oracle is building from scratch, an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Public Cloud, and a large part of that effort is building a state of the art networking and load balancing capabilities. We are looking for exceptional software engineers with backgrounds in networking, kernel internals and distributed systems.
The Load Balancer team is building a high performance, scale out and high availability offering that will be the foundation of a modern cloud system. You will be a part of the team founded by industry veterans from AWS, Google, OpenStack, Joyent and others, that will create the first enterprise-grade public cloud service. We believe that this team and its mission sits squarely at the center of Oracle's future and that this is an opportunity to rethink the way load balancing, networking, compute and storage systems interact and change the way applications are built.
We have engineering work at every layer of the stack, from the REST API to distributed systems, kernel internals, system tuning and performance. We are looking for teammates who are interested in being part of a team that innovates from top to bottom, which requires traversing from the customer experience down to bit twiddling in the kernel. We believe that the only way to succeed is to own every part of the problem and are creating a team that controls its own destiny. Our team is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, with offices in Santa Clara and Oakland.
Candidates should be passionate about distributed systems, cloud computing, and container management. Candidates will need to possess deep Computer Science expertise, and also excel at written and verbal communication. This position will require
A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in any one of Computer Science/Engineering, Information Science/Technology, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field. A foreign equivalent degree is also accepted .
Proficiency in programing languages including but not limited to C/C /Java/Python/GO.
Experience with distributed systems: familiarity with CAP theorem, consensus, messaging, etc.
Experience with general networking, load balancing, virtual networks, etc.
Good Operating System fundamentals with experience in one or more Unix flavors like Solaris/Linux/FreeBsd etc . Experience with Containers and OS virtualization is a plus
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
Designing and Developing products that can scale
Experience with public clouds like AWS or Azure.
Experience building solutions on the cloud public/private
Working with Chef/Puppet/Ansible
Familiarity with Agile
Familiarity with code versioning tools like Git.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
