Current Need

Position Description

The Sr. Manager, Project Management Office provides operational direction and leadership to multidisciplinary functional roles and teams responsible for project implementation tasks and planning of new programs and services.

This position ensures all cross-functional team members deliver solutions/programs that meet all internal McKesson requirements, while exceeding customer expectations for operational excellence and program stakeholder satisfaction.

The Sr. Manager, Project Management Office will be responsible for implementing projects in support of Reimbursement and Access Services initiatives. The position will work with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment while supporting the organizational culture of continuous process improvement. As an integral part of the Project Management Office, the duties will include utilizing project management tools to facilitate planning and tracking of large, complex projects and communicating effectively with all stakeholders for regular status reporting and on escalations.

In addition, this role will provide management oversight and development responsibilities for project managers who will report directly to this position. The role will build and effective team environment and maintain strong working relationships with team members and stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

  • Serves as a key management resource and one of the primary contacts for our customer(s) during project implementations

  • Provide leadership to internal, cross-functional teams striving to meet project deliverables and timelines

  • Coordinate with Project Management team members to ensure project meetings are effectively planned and organized to include cross-functional project teams as required to meet program deliverable

  • Represent project at meetings and manage relationships with project stakeholders, including internal and external customers and vendors.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Responsible for interfacing with the internal team and customers to clearly define Project Scope

  • Manages team sub-projects for the implementation of new products, services, client initiatives and change requests according to company standards

  • Responsible for managing project timeline, cross-functional teams, inter-departmental communication and client facing status reports

  • Maintains Project Plans and tracking logs as appropriate

  • Responsible for identifying project priorities with customers and communicating priorities to internal team

  • Review all program documentation prior to production release including Business Requirements and ensures client sign-off is obtained on business requirements and other documents that may require approval

  • Interacts with Business System Analysts, Operations, IT, and Finance to assist in understanding and delivering customer requirements

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Maintains updated project budget for customer reflecting actual costs & projections through the implementation and warranty period

  • Understands contractual obligations

  • Coordinates internal effort to produce sizing/pricing on new client change requests

WORKFORCE & ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Participates or leads cross functional teams for the purpose of implementing new customer programs

  • Allocates resources and tracks according to plan

  • Provides monthly status reports to ensure senior level management visibility to project and client status

  • Responsible for building team environment with internal partners

  • Manages conflict resolution to ensure successful outcomes

TEAM DEVELOPMENT

  • Train, develop and oversee new Project Managers assigned to program implementation throughout the implementation timeline

  • Ensure Project Manager has appropriate knowledge and understanding of program business rules to support program and customer in an on-going manner

  • Provide daily operational direction on Project Manager programs / projects

  • Ensure team is highly motivated to deliver outstanding support and quality deliverables to our customers and their program stakeholders

  • Provide model of ICARE values in all interactions and practices and demonstrated leadership skills.

Minimum Requirements

2 years experience in project management.

Critical Skills

  • 5 years’ experience in project management, including 2 years managerial experience

  • 5 years of consultative experience in a formal project planning role with a strong foundation in project management principles, processes, and methodology.

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, work-streams and cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.

  • Strong influential and strategic management experience; managing highly visible and demanding customers.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in presenting project plans and business requirements to external customer executive teams.

  • Detailed understanding and experience with process documentation and improvement for gaining operational efficiency.

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project and MS Visio

  • Experience in managing data files, file exchanges and data analysis type of projects or activities

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • PMP certification preferred

  • Six Sigma certification and practical application experience preferred

  • Healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, highly preferred

  • Data analysis

Education

4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience
