Come join Pennslyvania American Water as a Crew Leader! This role will be based out of our Scranton, PA and will serve as a key team member for our crews. Get experience leading a team, while getting hands-on experience out in the field. You'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks and provide quality service to the community which we serve.

  • Primary Role*

Performs a variety of tasks in supervising and participating in locating, laying, repairing, and extending water mains and services in the distributing system.

  • Key Accountabilities*

  • Performs a variety of tasks in supervising and participating in locating, laying, repairing, and extending water mains and services in the distributing system.

  • Directs activities of the M/C Utility person, Backhoe Operators and Dump Truck drivers as a crew.

  • Locates and marks company facilities associated with PA One Call System to include functions of overseeing and performing.

  • Sets up or directs the set-up of barricades and place safety lights around work site to protect workers from street traffic. Operates valves and fire hydrants.

  • Completes all necessary forms, sketches and field notes and uses maps and records. Investigates complaints and determines corrective action per company procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

  • Knowledge/Skills*

  • Working knowledge of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton distribution system components.

  • General knowledge of water hydraulics and distribution system repair and maintenance practices. Familiarity with Penn DOT publications for setting up traffic control.

  • Familiarity with proper completion of company forms.

  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures for a variety of hand tools.

  • Experience/Education*

_ Experience:_

  • Minimum of 3 years in Network.

  • Familiarity with water distribution maintenance and construction practices.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to run crews preferred.

_ Education:_

  • Minimum of Vocational education, apprentice training, and/or on the job training.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Crew leader training course preferred.

  • Work Environment*

  • Both: Inside and outside. A job is considered both if the activities occur inside or outside in approximately equal amounts.

  • Wet and Humid: Wet: Contact with water or other liquids. Humid:

  • Atmospheric conditions with moisture content sufficiently high to cause marked bodily discomfort.

  • Noise and Vibration: Sufficient noise, either constant or intermittent, to cause marked distraction:

  • Hazards: Situations in which the individual is exposed to the definite risk of bodily injury.

  • Licenses & Certifications*

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Work Schedule:*

  • Available for 24/7 callout and carryover time.

  • Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:30am -4:00pm. Must be available for carryover overtime and call outs, 24/7/365
