Oracle Business Development Manager in Seattle, Washington

Manages a team that engages in business development strategies and programs in support of Oracle's Sales Organization.

Manages, through lower-level managers, a team of business development consultants. Team is responsible for developing new accounts and/or expanding existing accounts within an established geographic territory, industry, product segment or channel. Participates as a team member in strategic and tactical planning for the division. With guidance from the senior director or vice president, oversees market analysis, monitors competitive activity and identification of customer needs. Provides leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementing of strategic business objectives. Responsible for coaching, performance management, and career development of staff. Participates in the recruiting process and makes hiring decisions. Manages budget. Provides support to marketing and sales programs. Participates in implementation of organizational changes in line with changing business and market.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Business management experience, and Marketing/Business Development experience in the high-tech industry preferred. Demonstrated leadership skills. 5-7 years previous people management experience. Professional credentials in Marketing. Academic credentials desirable. Working knowledge of business development job. Thorough understanding of Oracle's products and services. Ability to lead a team in all areas of strategic business development. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong quantitative, analytical, and conflict resolution ability.

Responsible for the management of Business Development managers, aligning to each of four Lines of Business (LOBs), to drive the execution of sales plays, and other associated initiatives, to improve revenue.

Job Description

Build and lead a highly motivated and high performing team of Business Development Managers responsible for identifying relevant new business opportunities and designing "go-to-market" plans to deliver measurable and significant revenues.

Provide leadership for the team to ensure that KPI s are clearly defined and met.

Participates in strategic and tactical planning for the organization.

Responsible for coaching, performance management, and career development of staff.

Consistently meets with potential customers and current customers to build pipeline.

Experience qualifying prospects and customers; understanding of the sales cycle process

Strong leadership skills.

Strong Oracle product knowledge preferred.

Key objectives of this job include:

Evaluate sales strategies resulting in improved number of opportunities and increased pipeline

Decide the key influencers of sales success resulting in improved win rate of pipeline

Verify that the field is successfully trained in order to improve the number of deals

Decide relevant information for rep communication thereby resulting in active participation by field

Decide relevant information for executive communication in order to improve understanding by executive management

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the enablement of sales reps, OD reps and BDCs, for each of the license LOBs, ensuring initiatives and sales plays are understood and can be executed upon

Identify potential causes for exceeding or missing sales targets by understanding key drivers of Oracle s sales processes; work with Subject Matter Experts to identify new initiatives and sales plays to address any issues

Identify account planning opportunities for larger accounts across the lines of business, and manage the creation of account plans

Review data mining analysis, and work with Subject Matter Experts, to identify new opportunities for each LOB

Manage the consumption of field communications and available assets to ensure sales reps have timely information for their sales efforts; create new assets as needed

Review KPIs for each LOBs SVP, and check in with those SVPs to identify unique needs for their LOB

Preferred Requirements:

MBA with finance, entrepreneurship, or strategy focus;

10 years of experience within Oracle s sales ecosystem; business development or actual sales

10 years of experience in technology development and/or sales support

5 years of experience in developing processes or programs that advance specific business goals
