Data Center Support Technician
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is looking for Systems Engineers to help run our cloud datacenters in the Seattle region. If you want to be part of the new and exciting cloud products from Oracle and have the opportunity to influence designs in a Dev Ops model, this is the place to be in Seattle. You will work with engineering and development teams on a daily basis and create help create automation to streamline operational functions.
Full-time with full Oracle benefits. Employees may need to work nights/weekends until we get the full, global team hired (rotating).
Some of the expectations are:
Review and action, Incoming and open tickets, prioritize work based on ticket severity.
Reviews and Creates shared documentation, either SOPs or support documentation.
Reviews site change control and provides guidance and first level of approvals.Offer technical direction for local site technicians.
Evolved decision-making to determine course of action or as an escalation point (FSE/Sr. Dc Tech) prior to contacting MOS/TSE.
Mentor new employees during and after the initial ramp.
Perform and teach
Advanced diagnostic troubleshooting techniques with supported hardware and cabling.
Provide advanced support to outside teams (HoPS, Telco Carriers, MOS...).
Reviews changes specific to their site, provide feedback to team and management as to risks.
Has a mastery of support tools used in day-to-day operations.
Effectively plans support activities to increase efficiencies to speed repairs.
Conducts routine inspections of the data center and conducts a periodic testing in the environment (Cooling, Power, Temp, etc...)
Assist with QA new cabinet delivers and existing environment.
Develops support tools enhancing diagnostic tool sets.
Develop training programs and standards for DC Techs as tool sets and technology evolves.
Reviews SOP documents on a determined schedule to determine portability into automation.
Evaluate and determine suggestions in the Continues improvement processes for SOPs and tools sets.
Works across DC-Ops developing and revising standards that are portable across regions globally.
Providing guidance on standards.
Reviews feedback, risks and approval support prior to management approval.
Physical infrastructure planning, Works with build team and coordinates local infrastructure projects including retrofits, future expansion, and LCM.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.
Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliablility of the system. Manage the load configurations of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinate terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requisitions. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. May play a team leader role for developing System Administrators.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Eight years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.
