Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team is a new ground-up effort to build Infrastructure-as-a-Service that operates at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best in class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever-expanding set of foundational cloud-based services.

You will design and build innovative new systems from the ground up and be a part of a group that is technically grounded and experienced. Our goal is to use software to speed up traditionally slow, manual infrastructure tasks, doing in hours what used to take days or weeks. You will own parts of the software design and development of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure ( https://cloud.oracle.com/cloud-infrastructure) .

We’re looking for hands-on software engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure and highly available services, revolutionize how we manage the physical infrastructure underneath this new cloud. You should be both a rock-solid developer and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4 years’ experience delivering and operating large software systems at scale.

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

  • Proficient in at least one (preferably two) of the following languages: Python, Java, C, C , C#, Ruby, JavaScript, or another object-oriented language

  • Strong grasp of computer science concepts (data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems fundamentals)

  • Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP), and standard network architectures

  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills

  • Working familiarity with UNIX operating system and related tools

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
