Multiple compute options provide the flexibility to run the most demanding workloads, as well as less compute-intensive applications, in a secure and highly available cloud environment. Customers can self-service provision virtual machines right alongside bare metal servers and clusters on the same virtual cloud networks, through a unified web console, APIs, CLI or via industry standard tools such as Terraform and Chef. OCI's approach gives the customer choices for storage us industry leading local NVME storage or elastic network block storage.

The Imaging team within OCI is responsible for delivering the operating system images that our customers use with our bare metal and virtual machine instances. We build and modify OS images as well as the surrounding control plane service for the management and publication of images. Our team sits at the crossroads of OCI: working with networking, storage and compute service teams, with the hardware and hypervisor teams, and directly with a number of third party OS providers across the industry. Our work is front and center when using OCI, and one of the first customer touchpoints on our cloud.
