Role:We’re looking for an Engineering Manager with 4+ years of technical leadership and people management experience to help expand our existing platform, grow and coach our engineering team, and develop new features and products. This person would begin immediately as a full-time employee in Seattle, WA.

Backed by senior CBRE executives, our growing, dynamic team has developed a platform designed to deliver simple, intuitive client-side applications. Our current infrastructure is loosely comprised of:

  • A flexible, scalable, cloud-based application layer

  • An API layer for client-side consumption

  • Client-side applications designed for specific user groups

As our platform continues to grow, we’d want you to help expand and improve the capabilities of the application and our engineering teams. We value proficiency in application development and a passion for learning new technologies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Mentoring and coaching team members, including pair programming, code reviews, 1:1 coaching sessions with our engineers, and a strong investment in your team's technical and personal growth

  • Participating in technology architecture discussions for product development and advocating best practices (CI, testing, operational efficiency, etc.)

  • Advocating and promoting leadership (and emerging leadership) of yourself and your colleagues at all levels within the larger engineering community. Advocating and encouraging our engineers to give talks, growing our presence in the engineering community, and contributing to open-source projects

  • Writing beautiful code and implementing elegant solutions

  • Helping design and implement new features/applications based on industry standards

  • Ensuring that we are continuously raising our standard of engineering excellence

  • Identifying and addressing bugs/enhancements/new features/needed refactoring


  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field or equivalent work experience

  • Typically has 5-7 years of relevant work experience. Consideration given to equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 4+ years of engineering management experience

  • 5 - 7+ years of professional programming experience

Bonus points for experience in these areas:

  • 7+ of relevant tech industry experience, with 5+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience (managing teams of 8+ developers)

  • Experience modeling and implementing data structures in PostgreSQL/PostGIS

  • 5+years of experience with REST APIs

  • Strong background programming in Python and/or JavaScript

  • Django, Node, or React experience is a strong plus

  • Background task queues (Celery, Kafka)

  • GIS and related technologies (GeoDjango, ESRI, PostGIS)

  • ETL data pipelines and processing technologies (Spark, Hadoop)

  • Elasticsearch or other search technologies
