Customers

always want higher availability, more bandwidth, greater network security, less

network latency, less network jitter, and lower overall cost. We are

reimagining the traditional planning, provisioning, and life cycle by creating

SDN services that allow customers to connect their on-premises networks, data

center networks, and/or other networks via enterprise-grade links to Oracle’s

cloud. Customers can then access dozens of leading PaaS and IaaS services

that span database, Java, integration, analytics, compute, and storage. At

its core, our SDN services provide customers with rapid configuration,

pay-as-you go pricing, and seamless scalability.

We are

looking for a SRE Engineer to be

part of a team of engineers that will support a wide range of systems

engineering services that are critical to managing and scaling our network

infrastructure. The ideal candidate is

deeply familiar with Linux, its internal systems, and the capabilities of

such. This individual thrives on

analyzing and fully understanding failures that occur within a system, allowing

them to devise solutions to remove those faults. With a focus on consistency and stability,

the individual prefers to develop automation rather than succumb to routine

operational toil.

As an SRE

engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Deep

dive analytics into system uptime, service metrics, performance, deployment

automation

  • Develop

meaningful service metrics and dashboards

  • Managing

reliability and manageability of network automation and control plane services

  • Develop

service debugging tools, deployment automation solutions, and build and manage

test environments for services

Mandatory Qualifications:

Bachelor’s

degree in CS or related engineer field

3-5 years experience in DevOps/SRE

  • Strongoperational background, experience with building service monitoring anddebugging solutions, defining and measuring service metrics

  • Experienceparticipating in an on-call rotation and driving incidents to resolution

  • Extensiveexperience with scripting and compiled languages Java and Python, bash andRESTful API experience

  • Experiencewith common networking protocols

  • Strongskills in Linux performance tuning and fault analysis

  • Experiencewith Linux internals, administration, and host-based networking (e.g., storagesubsystems, resource management, scheduling, TCP/IP, routing)

  • Familiaritywith configuration management solutions such as Chef, Puppet, Cfengine, etc

  • Experiencewith virtualization technologies (e.g., KVM, Containers, Docker, Kubernetes,etc

  • Excellentorganizational, verbal, and written communication skills

PreferredQualifications:

  • MSCS or related degree

  • Experiencewith network service tooling and distributed computing

  • Experiencewith SQL or noSQL technologies

  • Abilityto analyze and troubleshoot across boundaries within large scale distributedinfrastructures (i.e., service stacks and their dependencies through tosupporting servers and network)

  • Proficiencyin building solutions (including code development) to automate routine tasksand reduce operational toil

  • Methodicproblem-solving approach, coupled with a strong drive to understand anderadicate failure patterns rather than merely mitigate them

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
