About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FENOC - Beaver Valley Power Station, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [BVN]
Under semi-direct supervision, the Auxiliary Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of station equipment and performs all operating duties for which they are qualified such as:
Places in operation, operates and removes from operation equipment using approved station procedures.
Maintains proper lubrication of equipment.
Performs switching and tagging for clearance operations.
Performs routine radiation monitoring necessary to obtain access to operating areas or equipmentand or necessary to process and ship radioactive waste.
Frequently checks the operation of equipment and diagnoses any difficulties.
Using appropriate tools and materials, performs minor adjustment and repair work.
Takes necessary action in case of an emergency and notifies the Reactor Operator or station supervision of unusual or irregular conditions.
Records readings, changes charts and keeps proper records of work done on the shift.
Performs various operating procedures and equipment surveillance tests as directed .
Performs as a member of the station emergency squad and fire squad.
Using appropriate tools and materials, maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and well lighted manner.
Directs and trains other operations employees, checking the performance of their work in order to maintain safe and proper operating conditions.
Effectively uses electrical and mechanical prints, diagrams and manuals in performance of job duties.
Performs all work in accordance with station safety and radiological control regulations and practices.
Performs all duties is accordance with INPO good operating practices, and NRC regulations, and industry standards.
Trains, qualifies and maintains job qualification in accordance with industry standards and INPO approved qualification programs.
Assists other employees as required as needed during normal and refueling operations .
Operates plant computer equipment such as Work Process monitoring, corrective actions, procedure usage and change, and work scheduling software.
Performs similar or less skilled duties as assigned.
Education equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of college in a technical area or equivalent experience is desired.
Demonstrate the ability to interpret and work from prints and electrical drawings.
Two years of power plant experience or equivalent.
Ability to pass appropriate oral and/or written examinations.
Ability to pass appropriate physical examinations.
Complete assigned training for the position.
Thorough working knowledge of company safety regulations and practices and methods of executing clearances.
Thorough working knowledge of radiation worker standards and practices.
