Verizon Senior Solutions Architect - UCC in Silver Spring, Maryland
What you’ll be doing...
As a UCC Solution Architect in Verizon Enterprise Solutions (VES) Advanced Technology Group (ATG), you will be responsible for acting as a technical expert, primarily focused on driving sales opportunities to closure, by providing thorough technical validation. The ATG Architects are the primary Sales voice to and from the product management team and on behalf of our UCC business partners. You will be responsible for communicating the latest UCC product features and ensure the field is equipped with the most recent known reference design architectures and follow best practices.
Designing and or implementing UCC technology for a range of enterprise customers and would like to further enhance their skills, tenure, and experience and share their passion of technology with others.
Serve as engineering and technical expert in Verizon’s IP Telephony, Unified Communications and Collaborations solutions portfolio, including associated equipment, services, and network architecture.
Leverage in-depth working knowledge of all aspects of IP Telephony and unified communications Solutions.
Experience with station- and trunk –side SIP designs including a detailed understanding of SIP Messaging and Call Flows.
PBX engineering design functional knowledge.
Session Border Control design.
Legacy TDM/PSTN-LEC knowledge and experience in Centrex and PRI/T1 voice services including trunking.
Be responsible for designing hosted UC solutions leveraging cloud architectures, such as Unified Communications as a Service (UCCaaS).
Video (HD) and Telepresence design.
Work with the account teams as the lead IP Trunking and Unified Communications subject matter expert to lead customer discussions, develop solutions and recommend Verizon products and services to meet customer’s business requirements.
Lead cross-functional teams in a lead architect role.
Understand customer’s technical requirements and the business drivers behind them. Cite personal examples of successful design, installation, and configurations currently deployed in customer environments.
Utilize understanding in network design, convergence (QoS/CoS), routing (BGP, EIGRP) and switching (VLAN trunking, Ethernet) with focus on resiliency, availability, and latency.
Contribute to technical proposals and RFP responses as required.
Possess strong presentation skills, with the ability to develop and deliver technical presentations with customers and to tailor content to an audience as appropriate – to include ROI/TCO understanding.
Share knowledge and experience to enhance the technical capabilities of peers and build prospective opportunities Manage inquiry (managed services, capacity, routing, diversity, etc.) cases as necessary.
Architect and present a solution based on customer requirements and company products. The output must be based on specifications provided by the customer of the supported team, the design work and the production of this designs in the form of architectural diagrams, Bill of Materials as well as the ability to present the solution both internally as well as to the customer.
Possess a solid understanding of the competitive landscape and clearly articulate the technical differentiation and value proposition of Verizon solutions.
Create and disseminate presentations, BOMs, Estimates (CCW), SOWs and other presentable materials for customers.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
Bachelor or Master's degree in engineering, computer science or business administration.
Five or more years of architecture experience in conceptualization, definition, and development of IT and or telecom based products and service or
Three or more years in customer-facing positions (sales, sales engineering, consulting) Strong communications and presentations skills, both oral and written.
Current and valid industry certifications.
Career Certifications or Equivalent Work Experience such as:
Cisco Certified Design Associate / Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCDA/CCNA).
Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP).
Cisco Certified Network Professional (Collaboration, Route & Switch, Datacenter or Security).
Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) preferably in the Collaboration Track.
Avaya Certified Solutions Specialist (ACSS).
Avaya Certified Specialist (ACS)
Avaya Certified Expert (ACE).
Avaya Certified Solutions Architect (ACSA).
Ribbon (SBC CORE, SBC EDGE, PSX or EMS) Sales Engineer professional.
SIP School Certification (SSCA).
Oracle Communications SBC Certified Implementation Specialist.
Experience in sales or services in the Public Sector (Federal or DoD environment).
Successful project delivery within Fortune 500 companies.
Working knowledge of Cisco Solutions: Premise based as well as Hosted based solutions.
Cisco Hosted Cloud Services (HCS) and Broadsoft Calling.
Webex Teams & Jabber- designing solutions, encompassing Cisco Webex Teams, messaging and calling. Cisco Spark Board for Room and Admin functionality.
Covering security, compliance, and analytics solution review. Leading to design validation for provisioning, management, and Professional Services support.
Working knowledge Ribbon/GENBAND solutions.
Working knowledge of AVAYA solutions.
Knowledge and design of Video Architecture (SIP).
Skype 4 Business/Teams and O365 experience or certification(s).
Active Federal Government Security Clearance (Secret, Top Secret).
