We are looking for a Trading/Fundamental Analyst with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills and have a good understanding of the LNG/Gas industry.
Where you fit in
This position is principally responsible for maintaining and supporting a credible, independent and unbiased view on the fundamental drivers influencing the supply and demand evolution in the global LNG market. The incumbent will work closely with colleagues in SLMT as well as other areas of analysis within Trading and Supply
What’s the role?
SLMT Fundamentals Analyst – Supporting SLMT, primarily the short-term trading team in Singapore, gather and maintain an independent view of the fundamental drivers influencing the LNG Market
The incumbent is responsible for helping provide SLMT with specific short-term (0-18 months) market analysis on an ongoing basis and to contribute to ad-hoc special projects. The focus is very much on extending market knowledge, seeking, and using available data and information in order to add trading value to the books.
To integrate supply and demand fundamental data produced both in-house and by external sources in order to cover Global LNG and gas markets.
Assess competitor portfolios and behaviours to improve understanding of likely economic drivers and volume flows.
Use political, economic and energy insights from our other oil and gas trading market fundamentals group to further develop insights relevant to LNG.
To develop new sources of trading-relevant data, and drive for quality improvement of existing sources.
Provide individual trading desks with specific data and information supporting their specific analysis needs.
Monitor quality of consultancy services providing market information.
Collate, gather and disseminate market intelligence to the global team.
Remain at all times compliant with the requirements of the Shell Trading Compliance Manual and the Code of Conduct.

What we need from you
Excellent analytical skills with a critical eye for attention to detail
The candidate must be inquisitive, have good interpersonal skills, and very comfortable reaching out and fostering relationships with other parts of SLMT and the wider Shell community
The candidate must be highly motivated and work well in a loosely structured environment. Must have the ability to work well with minimal/remote supervision, meet firm deadlines and be comfortable with ad hoc requests.
The role requires the candidate to pull and manipulate a lot of data in different guises
The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders at various organizational levels and work collaboratively to build a shared vision
Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills.
Understand and share the commercial implications derived from your analysis
Fluency in Microsoft analytics tools, understanding, ability and desire to develop data science techniques (SQL/python)
