Job Description:

Technical Writer 4 – ProdDev(PRODDEV.TECHWR.IC4):

What you will you do

  • Learn about Oracle’s CloudInfrastructure (OCI) products and technology to better understand theservices you will be supporting

  • Creates, develops, plans,writes, and edits operational and customer facing content andcommunications related to planned and unplanned events, upcoming newreleases, or “how to” guides to improve the overall customer experience

  • As a member of the OCI CustomerNotifications team, you will partner with OCI Operations to create andexecute an internal communication strategy

  • Work with service engineeringteams to develop root cause analysis documentation for customer impactingevents

  • Improve our communicationsstrategy for proactive announcements of any customer/tenant impactingevents

  • Document key learnings andother relevant details as part of the support you provide.

  • Able to participate in on-callrotation requirements which are shared by all team members to support anycommunication requirements for customer impacting events

  • Work as part of our extendedsupport team in a startup atmosphere, doing whatever it takes to exceedcustomer expectations.

  • Continually improve skillsthrough work experience and training

What you need to be successful

Educationand experience:

  • 8 years’ experience intechnical writing, content development, and/or communications to internaland/or external audiences

  • Bachelor’s degree, in ComputerScience, MIS or another technical field


  • Stronglanguage skills:

  • Demonstratedability to write clear, concise, engaging content in modern, conversationalstyle for a range of audiences

  • Clear,persuasive communications in meetings, emails, and other forms ofcommunications

  • Experience with varied userassistance deliverables, processes, and techniques

  • Experience writing on-screentext and messages, and reviewing user interfaces to ensure usability andadherence to style standards

  • Experience with, and knowledgeof, a range of visual information design techniques

  • Demonstrated proficiency inunderstanding user requirements and implementing them in documentationand instructional videos

  • Experience working withtechnical resources

  • Partner with Engineering teamsand resources to develop content and communicates to be consumed byvarious levels/audience personas (technical user, business user,executive)

  • Good to strong understandingof cloud concepts and platforms

  • Customer obsession, passion fordelighting customers

  • Proven ability to quickly learnnew technical domains and train others

  • Excellent written communicationskills

  • Maturity, judgment,negotiation/influence skills, analytical skills, and leadership skills

Excellentto haves:

  • Experience content localizationservices or the ability to translate content from English to Japanese,Chinese, German, or any other widely used language (desirable)

  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS,Outlook email templates (desirable)

  • Working knowledge of SQLqueries, data analysis, and reporting (desirable)

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.

As a member of the technical writing division, you will organize and prepare information for publication and develop publication concepts for the best communication of subject matter. Review technical information prepared by other staff members for clarity and content. Take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
