JOB SUMMARY:

This is a unique opportunity to lead the clinical evidence and marketing plans for a division of a large and growing medical technology company. We are looking for a dynamic individual who can lead a clinical evidence strategy that supports our growth initiatives and category leadership in our Front Line Care portfolio. This position will serve as the clinical expert with primary focus on the Physical Exam & Diagnostics product portfolio ensuring strategic development of evidence to support market access, value messaging, and development of commercial tools for field-based teams. The primary objectives of this role are to create strong clinical and economic evidence supporting the product or system value proposition to drive market adoption and to develop and manage advisory boards and key opinion leader relationships. The Manager, Medical Affairs is responsible for developing clinical protocols, conducting clinical activities to collect outcomes and economic evidence, advocating for policy approvals and reimbursement, and driving publication plans to disseminate clinical and economic outcomes data. This position will be the expert within the therapeutic category and develop strong relationships with thought leaders, key investigators and internal marketing and commercial teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and prioritize clinical and economic claims strategy for new and existing products

Develop clinical project plans including key milestones, budget needs, and resource deployment (i.e. internal sources, clinical research organizations (CRO), and institution on site staff).

Conduct clinical studies including responsibility for the following:

Identification of appropriate sites/investigators.

Qualifying, enrolling and training investigators and investigator’s site personnel in study protocol, standard operating procedures (SOP), good clinical practices (GCP), and other applicable regulatory requirements. Conduct product training & set up with intended users prior to clinical study

Monitoring study progress, preparing study documents and providing updates on study status.

Identifies, establishes, and maintains collaborative relationships with key investigators and institutions strategic to the appropriate use of company products for the purposes of business and research collaboration

Develops and manages advisory board and KOL networks. Leads and facilitates advisory boards and key thought leader activities.

Establish and manage publication plans to ensure high impact dissemination of clinical content.

Travel to key thought leaders, clinical trial sites, and key scientific meetings/tradeshows (20%).

Provide leadership for Medical Affairs function within the Welch Allyn product portfolio.

Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA in a related medical, science discipline required;(MD/ RN/ RT Preferred)

  • Advanced degree in management, such as M.B.A., or M.P.H. preferred

  • Experience in economics, outcomes research, technology assessment, health policy, reimbursement or a related field required

  • Experience in a medical device environment highly preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • In-depth knowledge of clinical research programs including methodologies, processes, and timelines.

  • Experience in the planning, conducting, and managing studies in a clinical program from study start-up to publication.

  • Strong project planning, leadership, negotiation and presentation skills as well as an ability to contribute creative yet practical solutions to problems.

  • Strong cross-organizational collaboration with internal teams and external investigators or project partners.

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in parallel.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to successfully partner with individuals to build relationships with business contacts, customers, and policy makers.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (25%).
