Pharmacy Technician

Eastside Medical Center is currently looking for a Pharmacy Technician

SHIFT:Full-Time Mixed (Rotating Weekends)

Responsibilities: * Procures and distributes medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Fills physician orders, medication carts, or stock requisitions accurately.

  • Replenishes medications in floor stock areas accurately.

  • Prepares intravenous admixtures or other sterile products accurately.

  • Delivers medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas accurately per established schedule

  • Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.

  • Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations.

  • Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date.

  • Restocks medication in dispensing areas.

  • Picks up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and use of department Performance Improvement (PI) by identifying problems and offering solutions.

  • Identifies PI activities by articulating department and hospital wide quality improvement successes.

  • Supports and assists in meeting goals of department PI.

  • Performs assigned department based monitoring duties in a timely manner (i.e. quality control checks, unit inspections, signing hood logs, fill logs).

  • Gives a thorough, concise report at change of shift, within allotted time.

  • Communicates incomplete assignments, and potential patient concerns to monitor in order to ensure continuity of medication therapy.

  • Participates in department or hospital committees, task forces, and/or provide departmental education.

  • Assists with the orientation of new employee(s) and/or orients current employee(s) to improve in a specific area.

  • Maintains the security of the pharmacy.

  • Does not leave pharmacy unattended.

  • Performs unit dose packaging of medications

Qualifications: * Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred

  • Basic computer skills required

  • Georgia Board of Pharmacy Registration - preferredNOTrequired

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Certificate - preferredNOTrequired

  • Current Georgia Driver’s license within 30 days of hire - required

  • Driver Safety Training Course in Healthstream within 60 days of hire or transfer - required
