PRIMARY PURPOSE :

The purpose of the Production Attendant is to rotate to various jobs within the Tile Line as needed to provide backup assistance or coverage of other operators during needed or voluntary absences, such as meetings, training, vacation and other similar times when an operator must be moved to work in another area of the plant. The Production Attendant when not needed to fulfill a specific job will be assigned to perform various tasks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions of the Job: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

• Work on shifts as required

• Be able to work with others in a team environment

• Train on and learn all non-leadership production jobs as required or requested

• Operate mobile equipment from 10% to 90% of scheduled shift depending on work assignment

• Fill-in for other operators as needed (approximately 75% of daily work)

• Monitor equipment which includes monitoring gauges, operation of controls, visual inspections, make adjustments, call in assistance, clear jams, maintain cleanliness of equipment

• Inspect tile product visually for defect, measure and document to quality specifications to ensure compliance, record results, place bad tile or scrap onto scrap conveyor or into bin, documentation/recordkeeping (computer and handwritten

• Transfer materials manually or mobile equipment. Raw materials measurement and placement: maintain levels of raw materials, place materials into appropriate bins, set scales.

• General Cleaning: Sweep, general pick-up around work area, clean up jammed tile; remove paper from bad tile to prepare for recycling, blow down equipment, trash removal, painting equipment

• Tile Rework/Scrap: Relabel cartons, open boxes of tile and place tile on scrap conveyor, remove paper from back side of scrap tile, stick to another tile, place on scrap conveyor, manually transfer boxes between pallets (weight of a box of tile is approximately 35lbs to 65lbs)

• Forklift Operation

• Participate in safety training and receive instruction through hands-on demonstration and/or classroom lecture, as required

• Maintain a clean work area

Non-Essential Functions of the Job : The following duties are considered secondary to the essential duties listed above:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Unsafe acts or conditions or problems are reported to the Leader and Supervisor. Quality issues, damage or shortages are reported to the proper production operators. Production Attendant is supervised by Tile Line Production Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• H. S. Diploma / General Equivalency Degree (G.E.D.)

• Basic math and computer skills, reading, writing, arithmetic, and measuring devises for the ordinary operation problems encountered

• Demonstrated abillity to operate mobile equipment

• General understanding and ability to operate forklift, sweeper or mobile equipment

• Able to use broom, shovel, simple hand tools, measure devices

• Able to identify various materials and finished projects

• Able to operate gauges, refill supplies, and monitor video images

• Able to read, comprehend and comply with Job Safety Analysis and related safety requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• T hree to five years previous employment in same or similar manufacturing, production and distribution environment
