Summary of Internship

The Molecular Biology R&D Internship position provides an opportunity for Molecular Biology students who are currently pursuing a Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or like science degree to get hands on experience working with scientists in a dynamic R&D environment. The MB R&D intern will contribute to research and development projects in qPCR assays and consumables division. The position starts in June, paid working 40 hours per week through August.

Essential Functions

  • Provide experimental support related to R&D projects including designing and testing new assays, methods and reagents

  • Support a variety of product development activities and may be assigned to a variety of R&D tasks throughout the department

  • Provide feedback on design performance and possible improvements

  • Learn about experiment design, data analysis and instrumentation through daily activities

  • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements

  • Specific tasks will be tailored to the intern’s experience level and abilities

  • Works under the close supervision of senior scientists and R&D managers Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team

  • Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve

  • Desire to contribute and improve design of new and existing scientific methods

  • Desire to teach other scientists about technologies in area of expertise

  • Familiarity with qPCR assay designs and instrumentation

  • Aptitude for molecular biology techniques Qualifications

  • Student currently enrolled in classes leading to a BA or BS degree in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or related disciplines

  • Experiences in qPCR assay design and testing preferred
