Thermo Fisher Scientific Staff Software Engineer, Embedded in South San Francisco, California
The Clinical Sequencing Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific is in need of a productive and enthusiastic Sr. software engineer. The position will be part of a dedicated team of scientists and engineers working on the renowned Ion Torrent sequencing platform, responsible for developing our commercial software products supporting sequencing instruments. This full-time position is based in our South San Francisco office.
Function as Sr. software engineer for development of our instrument control software and software components
Document and review documentation of our software products
Work with QC team to review and fix defects
Participate in software design reviews and code reviews
MUST: 3+ years of experience with commercial software development in C++ and Java. Knowledge of Python. Experience with instrument control software, understanding firmware a big plus.
MUST: Solid experience with Unix/Linux programming.
MUST: must be a self-starter, have a can-do attitude and excited about learning new things, fit into a fast-paced environment.
Understand SW development processes/life cycle and SW Architecture.
Working skills in software test methodology and tool sets.
Excellent skills in software configuration management.
Capable of setting up unit test framework, build process.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable working in life science domain, understand life science principle.
Understanding of basic math/statistics algorithms concepts is a plus.
Experience with software development under regulatory environment for clinical diagnostic products is a plus.
