As a Ex Director, Global PMO on the Olympus Corporation of America OCA team. You will contribute to our mission by helping set up and run our Project Approval Board, develop the framework and tools to allow us to collaborate across regions in a more Agile way to review & approve projects and later monitor & communicate on the execution of these to our Senior Leadership Team. This will enable the business to be well poised for growth. In a typical day you will:
Recruit and train Program Managers that will aid Business Development running M&A projects & diligence efforts, large scale integrations and support Strategic Marketing in early stage projects.
Critical to success will be flexibility in scaling needed capabilities utilizing a combination of in-house, external, and outsourced/consulting resources and expertise as business needs change or arise. Chair Therapeutic Solutions BU Global Project Approval Board (PAB) meetings and ensure compliance of PAB Governance Framework Ownership of PAB Governance for ThX BU and interdependencies with the Regional Boards (rPABs). The Governance framework will be newly implemented in 2019 and as such there is an expectation that there will be significant education that will be required for users across the Global footprint to get familiar and adopt the framework.
Communicate and drive the adoption and alignment of ThX BU standards, policies and procedures across the business.
Lead change management efforts to develop a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and bias for action to aid in the execution and delivery of projects.
Define and maintain standards and requirements for Project Management in the execution of large scale ThX projects.
Create the framework for Business Requirements, Templates and Dashboard communication that will be needed for all projects within the ThX Business.
For high impact ThX BU Projects, develop and implement consistent methods and tools for project initiation, team structure, schedule development & tracking, financial management, risk management, project reviews, escalation processes, business case development and cross-functional team leadership.
Preliminary basic business requirements will need to be established to start given the differences in systems and data availability across the regions. The vision of the requirements in future state will need to be established early on together with a transformation plan on how the regions will be able to adapt to these requirements. This will include heavy collaboration with Global Marketing, the Strategy and Portfolio Management Office and the Regional Boards.
Define and implement the utilization of useful project performance KPI’s and metrics and indicators for project progress utilizing metrics to provide a data-centric view of PMO performance and to direct on-going improvement efforts that will impact outcomes
Train PAB Members, Regional rPAB members and input providers, finance as any changes to the requirements get implemented.
Provide ThxBU with clear and consistent communication on the progress and execution of the full portfolio of initiatives which will include all the activities managed at the Regional level. This will require a vision of tools and systems that can be used short and long term to make the collection and dissemination of project data and information efficient for the global contributors while being value added and user friendly for the stakeholders across the globe.
Collaborate with the Business Development Global team to develop a framework for the operational aspects of the Due Diligence efforts to ensure that we can provide effective and timely service and that we have clarity and consistency on the deliverables.
Facilitate/Co-Chair the monthly project update meetings by Business Segment.
Perform all other essential duties as assigned.
Master's Degree is required; Bachelor's Degree preferably in Engineering or Technical Field
Minimum of 10 years of cross functional program/project experience, with a demonstrated track record of execution bringing product from concept through market release.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Medical Device Industry.
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing and developing people is required.
* Project Management Training & Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, 25% of the time.
Experience leading M&A and Post Merger Integration Projects is a plus.
Experience in the implementation of transformation and organizational change management.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills with varied stakeholders (e.g. business, technical, executive).
Team player who thrives on working collaboratively and skilled at influencing without authority.
Detail oriented; highly organized and thorough.
Keen sense of time management adept at managing competing priorities and master of multi-tasking in a changing business environment.
Avid problem solver with proven ability to make timely decisions while dealing with ambiguity.
Expert level experience with MS Project, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word MS Project.

The Executive Director, Global PMO’s primary duties include leading a team of Program Managers and Program Directors in the operational aspects of M&A Due Diligence efforts and later Post Merger Integration, as well as in the execution of early stage projects evaluating both organic and inorganic business opportunities across any of the business segments that the Therapeutic Solutions BU (ThX BU) serves. The candidate is also responsible for chairing the Global PAB (Project Approval Board) and for the planning and execution of all activities under the scope of this Board. The PAB is comprised of Executive Committee members from each of the functions. The purpose of the PAB is to actively oversee ThX Global policies, procedures, standards, systems, initiatives, and decisions, including monitoring the execution of projects that have been approved and funded. The incumbent is responsible for providing guidance and oversight of the Therapeutic Projects within the Regional PAB in Japan, Europe and the United States. He/She will be establishing and maintaining cross functional organizational alignment to ensure a consistent and rational approach to delivering results through prioritization, resourcing, budgeting & execution of key development projects. The incumbent will be responsible for informing the Executive Committee, Project Approval Board, Corporate and Regional Leadership on all relevant project matters (timeline, risk, resources, budget, etc.). This will require close collaboration and oversight of regionally managed projects.
