Olympus America Inc. Senior Analyst, Marketing and Sales in Southborough, Massachusetts

Job Duties::

As a Sr. Marketing and Sales Analyst working on the Sales Operations Analytics and Reporting team, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work. You will contribute to our mission by leveraging Business Intelligence tools to visualize KPIs, engage in cross functional projects, and become an instrumental strategic business partner. A typical day for you will include:

  • Identifying and implementing innovative analytic frameworks and solutions to facilitate strategic business decisions, identify new market opportunities and uncover areas of improvement.

  • Providing ROI analysis of marketing campaigns and targeted sales activities.

*Engaging with project sponsors and stakeholders to understand each business initiative.

  • Probing for hidden questions and goals.

  • Bringing structure to each request and translate requirements into an analytic approach.

  • Working with Market Intelligence counterparts to provide market analysis of various segments (size, competition, trends, market-share, new business development opportunities, etc.).

  • Working with Product Management to identify target customers for marketing/sales initiatives by focusing on segmentation exercises.

  • Working with Sales Operations to integrate target lists into CRM as new sales leads; monitor sales performance against target lists.

  • Understanding relationships between front end applications and data repositories.

  • Ensuring quality of the source information/data that is relied upon by management in their decision making.

  • Analyzing marketing and sales metrics to identify cause-effect relationships between market/customer actions and financial outcomes in order to increase profitability.

  • Building dashboards with Business Intelligence tools such as the SAP Business Objects tool set (Webi, Design Studio and Lumira) and Qlik to visualize key performance indicators for specific customers, products and/or promotions.

  • Working directly with and interview sales representatives and customers in order to inform effectiveness of strategies and uncover potential strategic/tactical opportunities.

  • Educating users regarding the functional use of analyses, reports and other tools.

  • Performing all other essential duties as assigned.

Job Requirements::

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Math, Statistics, Business, Economics, Finance, Management Information Systems, Engineering or a similar discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience preferable in the consulting, pharmaceutical, medical devices or insurance industries.

  • Must be familiar with relational data bases.

  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools.

  • Ability to travel domestically if projects require.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • SQL experience.

  • SAP/BOBJ or Qlik experience.

  • SAS, R or Python experience highly desired but not required.

  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.

  • Exemplary communication and project management skills.

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft applications (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, Access).

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, results-driven.

  • Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills.

  • Diplomatic and creative problem solver with the ability draw conclusions, troubleshoot/resolve issues, and formulate recommendations.

  • Self-motivated and have the ability to prioritize and execute on multiple concurrent tasks.

  • Ability to convert analytical findings to business outcomes so that they are clear and concise to any audience.

  • Superb critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to provide detailed insight and constructive criticism into problems and complex situations.

  • Ability to conceptualize from ‘Big Picture’ down to detail level.

  • Ability to quickly comprehend new problems and situations; needs little time to learn and master new processes or tools.

  • Ability to aggressively pursue challenging goals and objectives; willing to put in considerable time and effort to accomplish objectives.

The Senior Marketing and Sales Analyst works cross functionally with Marketing and Sales personnel from the Surgical Endoscopy, Surgical Integration and Energy business units, as well as members of the Analytics & Reporting team, to deliver insights that help guide business decisions and support go- forward strategies. The incumbent will report to the Sr. Manager of Analytics and Reporting and will ultimately be a part of the MSG Commercial Sales Operations team at Olympus, which is comprised of four groups: Professional Services, Analytics & Reporting, Salesforce Enablement and Compensation Effectiveness. All of these teams are bound together through a mission to turn data into actionable insights that our internal and external customers can use to make better decisions.
