Olympus America Inc. Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Southborough, Massachusetts

Job Duties::

As a Sr Manufacturing Engineer working on the Southborough Manufacturing Engineering team, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work. You will contribute to our mission by developing manufacturing process for new products, integrating new technology and sustaining current manufacturing operations. In a typical day, you will:

  • Drive operations and new product/process development activities.

  • Drive system changes (GWIs, GSOP forms) and business systems (Line Balance, work content tools).

  • Drive Design for Manufacturability and Assembly in new product teams.

  • Mentor/Lead the validation of equipment and processes as required (IQ, OQ, PQ).

  • Mentor and implement capacity planning, cost improvement and facilities layout for equipment moves and additions.

  • Perform training for new and existing processes.

  • Lead discussions with resources such as suppliers and Olympus sites to resolve technical issues or improve processes or products.

  • Assess process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities.

  • Innovate and implement process improvement activities Leadership of cross functional project teams.

  • Review prints for new and existing products.

  • Follow Olympus global work instructions and operating procedures.

  • Own MP's to ensure control of product/process design.

  • Perform all other essential duties as assigned.

Job Requirements::

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science or engineering discipline.

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Medical Device.

  • Applied experience using LEAN and Six Sigma tools.

*Travel, up to 30% both domestically and internationally.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with process validations.

  • Experience leading and driving DFM and DFA activities.

  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities with statistical analysis.

  • Ability to work well/Lead multiple cross functional teams.

  • Proficient technical writing skills.

  • Experience with leading risk management documentation.

  • Proficient time management skills.

  • Demonstrated fixture and tooling experience.

  • CAD experience is essential.

  • Experience with supervision of technical resources.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing Manufacturing Engineering leadership/mentorship to Sustaining and New Product Development products that are built by 3rd party vendors and/or at one of OSTA's manufacturing sites. The incumbent will ensure engineering teams are aligned to the business strategy of the department/company. He/She will represent manufacturing as a leader/team member to support new product development and continuous improvement through the role of core team member and/or continuous improvement leader. The incumbent must understand and possess a business acumen to prioritize work load to align to business goals. He/She may serve as backup to the Management Representative for the location. The incumbent may have direct technician reporting structure. The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer may also influentially lead engineers.
