The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide architectural design leadership on complex projects ranging from healthcare, corporate office, higher education, sports and entertainment, corporate interiors, housing, and governmental facilities

  • Develop thought provoking design for buildings with various uses.

  • Create building designs which take into account the urban context and scale of the associated sites to benefit the built environment.

  • Create dynamic rendering’s and 3d images through the use of cutting edge software and 3d models which can be used to compel the client and convey design intent.

  • Validate design decisions based on cost analysis with an understanding of logistics and procurement efficiency

  • Coordinate all required internal AECOM and external disciplines AE disciplines for successful outcomes during construction.

  • Coordinate and attend design reviews with clients, project managers, and municipal agencies.

  • Develop and coordinate architectural plans, elevations, section and details, as needed

  • Stay current with new design software developments (i.e., BIM, Revit, 3D Max, Adobe Photoshop, etc.)

  • Apply creative design thinking to client’s business problems to help maximize value of AECOM’s service to the client.

  • Collaborate with AECOM regional leadership to help develop and garner greater design focus, methodologies, process, and design excellence philosophy.

  • Work collaborative with the Michigan Design Director to advance design thinking regionally and nationally by exploiting client opportunities where design is highly valuable by demonstrating ROI for design service with a strong understanding of market values and cost factors

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience

  • 7+ years of experience as an Architect or Architectural Designer

  • Excellent Autodesk Revit skills

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and other post process and presentation graphic software

  • Ability to work with a diverse team

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Detail-oriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture

  • Experienced, self-directed professional

  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work

  • Ability to work independently and lead large groups of technical minded people with minimal oversight

  • Ability to meet quality, schedule and budget expectations

  • Desire to be mentored by senior staff and provide mentorship to less experienced staff

  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines

  • Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Architecture

  • Licensed as a registered architect
