Verizon Senior Cloud Security Architect in Southlake, Texas
What you’ll be doing...
Global Network & Technology (GN&T) Security Planning is seeking a cloud security SME to lead and drive the development of end-to-end security architectures and roadmaps for Verizon’s private cloud, Verizon Cloud Platform (VCP), and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC). You will be the primary cloud resource communicating implementation security requirements for enterprise wide private cloud. The cloud SME will lead the VCP team to ensure security is built in from the beginning of all cloud infrastructure instead of being bolted on after the fact. The cloud security SME will use their expert level knowledge of OpenStack, Linux systems, virtualization, and orchestration to ensure Verizon has managed all significant security risks on the latest cloud technologies. The SME will also work with academic and research institutions to identify and mitigate long-term security threats affecting the industry.
Build Verizon Cloud Platform security requirements which entails detailing all security controls applicable to a private cloud infrastructure including administrative access, logging, management & control plane security, network security, vulnerability management, etc.
Consult as SME on cloud related projects to ensure Verizon deploys tenant and infrastructure in the most secure and economical manner. As a SME, you are expected to be the lead security expert in your field and direct project owners on how to comply with corporate governance and pass a risk assessment
Research and conduct POCs on new security solutions that enhance overall cloud security and visibility to include cost, operational, and functional analyses. Proof of Concepts entail physical and virtual simulations replicating live network conditions with detailed objectives and results documented and communicated to leadership. This often includes close collaboration with a vendor and Verizon lab engineers including project management over many days, weeks, or months.
What we’re looking for...
You will need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Willingness to travel up to approximately 50 percent of the time.
Even better if you have:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or related).
Expert level understanding of OpenStack, DPDK, SR-IOV, NIC offloading.
Knowledge of internal and external security frameworks and security best practices of virtualization, containerization, Kubernetes, Docker, NIC offload, SDN, and orchestration.
Six or more years of experience related to computer or network security.
Experience building security architectures, roadmaps, and program requirements.
Strong written and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently on multiple high priority projects.
Knowledge of system areas such as 5G, LTE, routing, switching, optical networks, IoT, big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, etc.
