Verizon Systems Architect in Southlake, Texas

What you’ll be doing...

You will be a technical leader on our team that is developing documentation to pass on to operations to VM and server solutions to support applications. You will provide leadership in operating system choices and methods of deployment and network engineering and manage the details of deploying projects.

  • Providing leadership and engineering expertise to design and deploying the operating systems to support our suite of applications.

  • Working with the automation architect to align automation designs with the automation framework.

  • Providing technical leaderships to other automation developers.

  • Leading code reviews for automation development.

  • Evaluate new hardware to introduce to our environment.

  • Evaluate new tools to enhance and automate activities in our environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Proficient troubleshooting network issues related to OSS connected devices.

  • Proactively seeking solutions to improve application performance & efficiency, and reduce time on repetitive tasks through automation.

  • Teamwork & collaboration skills to work across organizations and lead cross-functional teams.

  • Effective communication & stakeholder management skills.

  • Providing mentoring to other team members on multiple facets.

  • Initiating and reacting to all security matters related to Verizon’s CPI-810 standard.

  • Forecast and plan the expansion of systems and construct technical business cases.

  • Discover mutually beneficial solutions across customers while recognizing different styles.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience with these technologies:

  • OS - Redhat Linux, CentOS, Solaris, Windows server

  • SAN technology (Brocade preferably)

  • SAN Disk Arrays (HPE, HDS, Purestorage)

  • Hardware familiarity Cisco UCS, HPE C7000, HPE Synergy, HPE DL series

  • Database familiarity with Oracle, MemSQL, Cassandra, MySQL, SQL server

  • IP Networking, v4/v6, BGP, OSPF, MPLS

  • Linux/OpenStack

  • Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS Power Point

  • Scripting tools, Ansible, Python, Shell Scripts

Even better if you have:

  • An advanced degree.

  • Telecommunications experience.

  • Strong understanding of application networking requirements and experience translating them to a network configuration deployment.

  • Experience with software engineering technologies and processes, and an understanding of EPC mobility applications and VNF’s.

  • Automated testing suite development (Jenkins or like).

  • Deployed applications in Cloud (VCP/AWS).

  • Familiarity with network deployments for LTE EPC architecture, infrastructure, and applications.
