Job Summary

AECOM have a great opportunity for an experienced Revit/CAD Structural Technician. The post would be based in our St Albans office. The team are currently delivering a number of BIM level 2 projects and are looking to enhance their existing capability. The role would also provide an excellent opportunity for career progression.

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven experience in structural Revit/BIM modelling, including the delivery of structural projects.

  • Knowledge and experience of modelling reinforced concrete and steelwork framed buildings

  • Experience of co-ordinating building structures models with the Architect and MEP engineer.

  • Able to undertake clash detection checks through the export into Navisworks. A good understanding of cloud based applications for sharing/reviewing models.

  • Produce accurate & BIM data rich 3D models using Revit. 3D Models should be of sufficient integrity to enable accurate scheduling, and able to create high quality detailed 2D output

  • Basic Revit Knowledge Requirements:

Project model setup

Co-Ordinate system setup

Work sharing models & model management

Documentation and sheet setup

3D & 2D view creation

Difference between text and tags

Using Revit schedules

Interoperability of different file formats and exporting to those formats

Awareness or experience using plugins for common analysis software

Awareness or experience in dynamo scripting

  • Able to manage and document control in-coming/out-going models & drawing information, through the use of project extranets and CDE’s, to comply with the requirements of the defined BIM Execution Plan.

  • Good working knowledge of PAS 1192, to allow implementation of AECOM best practice procedures and protocols, and work to specific AECOM standards

  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and ideally but not essential in structural detailing to supplement 3D work.

  • Willingness to adapt to new concepts, standards and software. Motivated to keep up to date with technological developments in quickly changing industry.

  • Develop engineer’s concepts and sketches into accurate models and drawings, through direct communications

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage your work commitments, whilst working on a number of projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication skills in the English language, both written and verbal.

  • Self-motivated and being able to take responsibility.

  • Able to demonstrate relevant project experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum B Grade in GCSE Mathematics

  • Relevant work related HNC but not essential
