Monsanto Senior Residue Analytical Chemist in ST. LOUIS, Missouri

We are seeking a highly talented Senior Residue Analytical Chemist for current or future roles to support new and existing product registrations and product stewardship for our company’s global agricultural chemical portfolio.

This role will focus on developing methods and conducting pesticide residue analysis in various matrices (soil, water, plant, and animal), processing samples for mass spectral analysis, operating liquid chromatography or gas chromatography mass spectrometers, and trouble-shooting technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing residue samples via LC or GC MS/MS from various matrices (e.g., plant, animal, soil, water, and air)

  • Proactively troubleshooting technical issues pertaining to methods, instrumentation and equipment

  • Developing and validating quantitative analytical methods, conducting and enabling sample preparation and analysis

  • Interpreting data, reporting and summarizing

  • Transferring analytical methods to internal and external research organizations

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or a related field of study

  • Minimum of two or more years of experience conducting quantitative analytical residue analysis of environmental and/or biological samples

  • Experience in quantitative analytical method development with an emphasis on liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry-based techniques

  • Strong chromatographic and separation science skill sets

  • Demonstrated effectiveness with continuous/process improvement

  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills

  • Agility to work on and balance multiple projects and adjust to deliver the required business objectives

  • Self-motivated and attention to detail

  • Strong laboratory documentation skills

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Agricultural industrial experience conducting quantitative analytical residue analysis

  • Experience conducting residue analytical studies in a regulated environment (GxP)

  • Development of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry-based methods and troubleshooting experience
