Monsanto Software Developer Intern in ST. LOUIS, Missouri
The Regulatory Sciences Team is seeking a motivated Software Developer Intern. This position will be located in Chesterfield, Missouri, reporting to our Information Management Lead.
The software engineers in the Regulatory Sciences Data Scientist & Analytics teams partner with scientists in Regulatory to develop cloud-based and other tools to optimize the scientist’s daily work. These tools enable data collection, data connectivity & analysis, reporting, and storage & retrieval. We operate across a wide range of modern technologies and tools and are always interested in exploring the latest technologies.
An ideal candidate possesses broad, up-to-date technical skills across the core domains of software and IT infrastructure. Ideally, they are proficient with several aspects of the software development process (planning, testing, development, performance optimization, refactoring, debugging, production support).
Dates for this internship are May 13-August 2, 2019
Current enrollment at a university within the US as a Junior or above, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, EE, Applied Math or related discipline. Masters level students are encouraged to apply.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
Proven examples of success with some of the following:
Backend frameworks such as Microsoft .NET 4, .NET Core (C#), Spring (Java)
HTML and CSS (Bootstrap and Materialize)
UI frameworks (Vue.Js preferred, AngularJs and ReactJs optional)
Experience with a variety of relational and non-relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDb)
Experience with Entity Framework and LINQ
Experience in RESTful API required, preferably in ASP.NET Web API and/or NodeJs.
Solid understanding and experience with using the MVC pattern and OOP (Object-Oriented Programming)
Ability to refactor and maintain existing code
Ability to organize & communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical people across functional teams
Flexibility and adaptability in working with end users
Upon completion of this summer internship, candidates must be returning to school to continue program of study or to begin an advanced degree in the fall.
Experience with the Cloud environment (AWS preferred)
Experience with continuous integration using Docker and Jenkins
Experience with Automated Testing tools, preferably Selenium
Interest in agricultural sciences, biology, and/or chemistry
Good understanding of the Best Practices in software development
Unit test experience preferred, XUnit or Microsoft Unit Test Framework
Completion of a prior internship or co-op
