As a consultative, client-facing, technical pre-sales professional, you will be guided by IBM's purpose to be essential to its clients. You will actively engage clients to develop trust and credibility by helping them grow their businesses. You will solve strategic and tactical business problems with IBM’s proven storage solutions.

We are seeking individuals interested in making an impact in selling IBM's storage portfolio, specifically in the Public Market (State & Local Government, Education, Healthcare and Life Sciences); working with clients to maintain and grow existing revenue streams and relationships. You are self-motivated, ready to interact daily with a variety of other skilled and highly motivated people, while working in a changing environment where no two days are alike. Our Pre-Sales Specialists deliver industry centric business solutions to clients of all sizes and types within the Public Market.

You will also be responsible for navigating IBM to identify and acquire critical resources needed to develop the best solution for the client, applying IBM brand strategies and offerings, methods and models, to ensure premier design and delivery. Not only do our salespeople sell some of the world's most innovative IT and business solutions (analytics, cognitive solutions, cloud, commerce, internet of things, security, social, systems hardware, systems software or Watson health); they also interact with clients in a wide array of fields. Key Responsibilities:

  • Use technical and business insight to understand the client's business requirements, technical requirements and/or competitive landscape

  • Collaborate with IBM sales teams to define, design, and detail the technical aspects and feasibility of proposed solutions

  • Deliver effective Proof of Concept (POC), Proof of Technology (POT), support critical situations

  • Actively engage with clients to develop the trust and credibility to help them grow their businesses by solving strategic and tactical business problems with IBM's shown cognitive and cloud technology solutions

  • Apply IBM brand strategies and offerings, methods and models, to ensure excellent design and delivery

  • Validated level of business insight as it applies to the client's business

  • Skilled in provocative consultative selling, with an understanding of the client's needs and IBM capabilities

  • Commercially minded and capable of supporting end-to-end sales engagements with the ability to think, plan and act strategically

  • Extensive networking and social skills in complex environments

  • Self-starter with eagerness to seek and build new skills

This position is in the Midwest (WI, IA, NE, IL, ND, SD). Preference given to applicants in these states.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • At least 5 years’ experience in IT Technical Storage Solutions Pre-Sales

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Storage Systems and SAN/NAS technologies

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience working with IBM Storage Software and Hardware; such as the IBM Spectrum portfolio, DS8000, Storwize, and IBM Cloud Object Storage (aka Cleversafe) and other storage platforms

  • At least 2 years’ experience selling solutions to Public (State & Local Government, Education, Healthcare and Life Sciences) market verticals

  • At least 2 years’ experience selling flash and cloud storage solutions
