Monsanto Technical Platforms Engineer in ST. LOUIS, Missouri

We are currently seeking talented Technical Platform Engineers for current and future needs within the organization. These roles will be located in St. Louis, MO, reporting to the Development Platform Lead.

This role will be an active member of IT Products & Engineering Technical Platform Team. The Technical Platform Team is accountable for the technical landscapes and frameworks that underpin Monsanto’s product platforms and information assets including:

  • Cloud Analytics Platform – scalable analytical cloud capabilities

  • Employee Productivity tools & devices that enable our workforce

  • API / Integration Platform is the foundation of our API ecosystem

  • Data Platform – enables data ingestion, storage, provisioning and access

  • Customer Enablement – Customer Relationship Management & Digital Marketing and Experience

  • Developer Platform – Cloud Operations, Developer Productivity Tools and Web Frameworks

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work effectively as part of a global team, partnering with teams across IT and the business to architect and build our scalable, durable and supportable enterprise-class technical platforms.

  • Promote shared and enterprise-scaled platforms, infrastructure, and services to reduce total cost of ownership, standardize global processes and reduce time to market.

  • Demonstrate passion and ownership by embracing all aspects of engineering.

  • Leverage expertise in programming languages, algorithms and data structures, distributed computing and multi-threading, distributed databases, fault-tolerance, relational and non-relational data modeling and other advanced topics that power modern applications.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Proven experience building and automating large-scale applications using Java, NodeJS, ES6 and Scala; using a variety of relational and non-relational data stores, working in a continuous delivery environment; creating RESTful microservices; running workloads in the cloud; familiarity with Docker and/or other container deployment technologies.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you work cooperatively with many other people and teams including development teams, business stakeholders and end users.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize your day to ensure results on both short-term immediate initiatives while advancing bigger picture, long term efforts.

  • Possess strong communication and collaboration skills including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

  • Results oriented, delivery focus

  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, can flourish handling multiple tasks, workload, changing priorities, and tight deadlines; ability to assess a problem and determine an effective course of action with sustainable solution

  • Ability to rapidly learn new technologies and problem domains; be a life-long learner
