Wheat Regional Commercial Manager – PNW, job description:

We are seeking a highly motivated Wheat Regional Commercial Manager, who will be responsible for the business relationship between Bayer’s wheat business and the Seed Supplier Focused distribution system within their territory. This role works closely with Wheat Technical Product and Operations teams as well as with the Breeding, Manufacturing and Technology Crop Teams to articulate product needs to maximize market share for Bayer wheat. Additionally, role provides indirect and direct input to the Wheat Leadership team regarding long-term strategic planning leading up to and after the introduction of new platforms in wheat. This position reports to the Wheat Account Manager Lead and will work from the geography outlined below.

Geography:

The geography includes the state of Washington, northern Oregon, northern Idaho and northwest Montana

Responsibilities:

Business:

  • Facilitates Seed Supplier license agreement execution and adherence.

  • Executes business plans that develop growth targets and manages profit, productivity and results

  • Conducts timely, impactful sales meetings, field days and provides tools/training to Seed Supplier network to sell value and deliver our brand experience.

  • Serves as the business expert with Seed Suppliers and understands their short and long-term business objectives and works to achieve/maintain preferred partnership status.

  • Resolves ambiguous situations and non-routine problems to ensure satisfaction with products and services.

  • Works closely with Account Manager Lead and Finance to accurately forecast short and longer-term revenues and volumes.

  • Designs and Implements Push Strategies (advertising/promotion) and assists with Pull Strategies (strip trials, farm demonstrations/trials) to position Wheat varieties and other systems on all applicable grower farms.

Portfolio Management:

  • Facilitates enhanced connectivity between the customer and Bayer at all levels. Understands the marketplace, the competitive landscape, and anticipates potential changes in the market.

  • Communicates short and long-term product needs by wheat class and market segment.

  • Ensures successful product replacement strategies, including positioning of registered seed for introductions, facilitation and dissemination of supporting data to the marketplace

  • Works closely with manufacturing and production companies to produce parent seed to support the product portfolio and assists in inventory management

Strategic Planning Consultation:

  • Input into strategic models regarding adoption of various new platforms and platform penetration.

  • Identification and communication to leadership regarding other Bayer technologies applicable to wheat.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelors of Science in an Ag/Life Sciences related discipline and a minimum of 4 years of work experience in an agronomic related field focused on sales, marketing, agronomy and/or account management.

  • Financial, time, and territory management proficiency.

  • Demonstrated self-motivation, initiative, assertiveness, and results orientation.

  • Ability to successfully work in a fast-paced and changing environment that requires handling multiple priorities and meeting critical deadlines.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Ability to pass a background check, substance abuse test, and driving record background check (i.e., moving violations, accidents, license suspension, etc.).

  • Willingness to travel and live/work in a rural environment.

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time is required.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience working in the seed industry recommended.

  • Knowledge of PNW wheat industry.

  • Trait and seed knowledge and experience in general agronomics, pest management, and plant physiology desirable.

  • A strong spirit of teamwork and cooperation.

  • Desire for long term career advancement (i.e., Marketing, Product Management, Logistics, Training, Finance).

  • Willingness to relocate.
