United Rentals Sr. Analyst, Operations Excellence in Stamford, Connecticut
Perform complex analysis and modeling to address challenges in Operations across United Rentals. Responsible for end-to-end problem solving: Including creating a hypothesis, developing a data set to evaluate, validating findings with the field, and delivering insights. Proactively identify performance trends, and make program recommendations based on analytical findings. Provide project management and reporting support on key Ops Excellence initiatives. Maintain a deep expertise in operational systems and data structure.
Analytical Support -- Provide in-depth analytics in support of strategic projects within OE to facilitate decision making and optimize results from key corporate initiatives.
Lead development of project dashboards and scorecards that drive insight into operations performance across the company.
Gather metrics, provide in-depth analytics reporting, including analyses of trend, variance, correlation, cause-effect, etc.
Develop and manage reporting processes to measure the impact of Operational Excellence activities and field implementations across the company.
Build predictive analysis to identify strategic operational changes, and model the potential impact on cost, productivity, and revenue
Effectively communicate analysis findings and/or recommendations in an executive-level format, including data visualization.
Program/Project Management -- Lead efforts with the core OE team on vendor evaluation and project KPI identification. Perform data analysis and develop business cases for programs.
Collaborate with OE colleagues and department leaders to determine broader requirements across the program and broader organization, identifying dependencies in the roadmap.
Manage cross-functional projects independently, including identifying necessary resources, managing a schedule, and delivering outputs
Provide support during specialized events such as Annual Management, Board of Directors, Executive Operating Committee meetings.
Data & Analytics Expertise -- Maintain an intimate knowledge of United Rentals data systems and structure, and develop training as required to build the analytical capability of the OpEx team.
Primary point of contact for a broad range of Operational data & analytics questions from across the company
Coach peers on analytical tools, and build training guides as required to support broad launches of metrics and scorecards
Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance is required.
MBA or graduate degree in economics or mathematics preferred.
6 Sigma or equivalent statistical analysis training preferred.
Senior Analyst requires a minimum 5-7 years' of consulting, finance, IT experience or an MBA. Will consider analyst position with less experience.
Use of ERP systems, SQL programming skills strongly preferred
Exposure to Business Intelligence tools preferred
Broad range of experience with data analysis and modeling
Self-starter with ability to seek out new approaches to complex business challenges
High sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Strong communication skills; intermediate presentation skills
Ability to influence and effectively work across multiple teams
High level MS-Office computer skills, with excellent excel, PPT skills
