Eaton Corporation located in Sumter, SC has an opening for a Supply Chain Manager. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the primary function of the Supply Chain Manager is to plan, direct, & coordinate all supply chain functions for the Sumter facility, including procurement (internal & external suppliers), materials/inventory management, receiving & warehouse operations, material handling, & logistics. Plan & manage the procurement of a large variety of complex materials and services to effectively support the product line strategy, growth, and on-going production requirements for the plant. Oversee the review and negotiation of purchase price, quality, availability, delivery, and other factors necessary to ensure the overall conformance of materials purchased to manufacturing specifications and overall company production objectives.
Be a leader & proponent of Zero Incident Culture, focusing on safe processes, equipment, and behaviors across the Sumter plant.
Lead materials management strategy for the Sumter plant, driving continuous improvement & achievement of profit plan objectives for material availability, inventory days on hand, and premium freight.
Lead procurement strategy for the Sumter plant & help set strategic sourcing direction for the overall Panelboard & Switchboard product line, including meeting objectives for NPD sourcing, PROLaunch on-time performance, dual sourcing, supplier quality, early supplier involvement, and lead time reduction.
Partner with Panelboard, Switchboard, and Fabrication value-streams to pro-actively develop supply chain solutions to improve value-stream performance, including make vs buy strategy, outsourcing, material lead time reduction, VA/VE, and productivity improvements.
Drive material & logistics cost out performance for the Sumter plant, ensuring robust pipeline development through VA/VE, negotiation, sourcing, and other tools, while driving consistent project execution to achieve profit plan savings & productivity objectives
Improve & sustain use of Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF) across Supply Chain in the areas material planning, receiving / warehouse, logistics, & procurement, including use and sustainment of leader standard work, tier processes, Gemba walks, visual controls, & process checks.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement & root cause analysis, including robust use of 5-why, 8D, RCA and sustained corrective actions.
Continuously advance supply chain maturity on Eaton Materials Management Assessment (MMA) process.
Lead inbound & outbound logistics function to increase delivery service level, reduce freight damage, & reduce transit-time while lowering total logistics cost (reduction in freight cost, packaging cost, and freight claims).
Support product line growth by aligning materials management strategy to business strategy, through developing inventory programs to support customer requested lead times & developing a responsive and agile supply base.
Drive increased SIOP maturity across the Sumter plant while expanding & improving supplier forecasting processes.
Align Sumter procurement strategy with overall Eaton procurement strategy, leveraging Commodity Management, Corporate SCM initiatives, supplier risk management, supplier diversity, and multiple sourcing.
Achieve continued reduction of excess & obsolete inventory through effective disposition process management, while addressing root cause and preventing additional excess & obsolete material creation.
Expand maturity & utilization of supplier inventory programs, including vendor managed inventory, consignment, supplier stocking, and Kanban.
Manage purchasing process to ensure purchase order & contract compliance with financial & legal policies.
Develop strong supply chain talent pool & succession planning, through on-going development plans, mentoring, & training of SCM functional team members.
Take plant leadership roles in key processes, including EHS assessments, Quality assessments, & ISO requirements.
Drive culture of delivering quality & ‘make no, pass no, accept no defects” to improve supplier & SCM quality, while supporting quality improvement initiatives across the plant.
Improve & sustain receiving, warehouse, and material handling performance, including inventory & transaction accuracy, perpetual inventory, 5S, safety, and productivity.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain management
Minimum 2 years of experience managing people
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
10 years of experience in supply chain management is preferred
3 years of experience managing a team of people is preferred
Strong demonstrated leadership skills with ability to get results through self & others.
Must have a general understanding of accounting principles, industrial engineering, and manufacturing processes.
Must exhibit a strong sense of urgency & ability to balance multiple priorities, aligning self & the team to focus on the items with the biggest impact.
Demonstrated ability to develop supply chain plans that support sales, delivery, and inventory objectives simultaneously for a multi-product plant.
Strong statistical & data analysis skills, able to mine data, develop insights, & drive improvements with large & complex data sets using Microsoft Excel and other software packages.
Strong building organizational capability (BOC) skills, and ability to leverage Eaton Leadership Model (ELM) to develop strong competencies & behaviors across the supply chain team.
Ability to think strategically and see the big picture, distilling out key actionable opportunities to optimize holistically (whole to part thinking).
Strong presentation, written, and oral communication skills with proven ability to able to present & persuade complex ideas to all levels of corporate hierarchy, business leaders, customers, and suppliers.
