Mercer’s Institutional Wealth business is looking for Actuarial Consulting Analysts to bring #ADifferentKind of perspective to our Sydney team. We have opportunities for recent graduates and early career professionals with unique blends of capabilities, including client-facing consulting, analysis and reporting, quantitative modelling and / or research and thought-leadership. You will have the opportunity to work with some of Australia’s largest organisations with some of the industry’s leading consultants. You’ll gain exposure on projects such as assessing the impact of “ Keating’s superannuation meeting the digital natives ”, solving the challenge of retirement income and policy, investing in a time of climate change or modeling the workforce of the future. Role Function As an Actuarial Consulting Analyst you will gain experience working with a range of clients that span across superannuation, insurance and friendly societies. The primary focus for the role is to contribute to the business through technical expertise, project management, understanding client issues and delivering bespoke client solutions and reports under the guidance of more experienced consultants and analysts. Your core activities will involve the preparation of actuarial modelling and valuations such as projections and experience investigations, which includes financial position updates and benefit projections for defined benefit superannuation funds, drafting actuarial certificates, long service leave valuations, fund wind ups and crediting rates calculations. We work flexibly across professional practice areas so will work with you to determine how best to focus your contribution – whether broadly across the business, or more focused on technical areas. We operate in a team-based, continuous learning environment and provide the opportunity to develop skills across investments and other specialties in our broader business. About you We are looking for bright individuals who demonstrate the curiosity to learn, are passionate about growth, and are cohesive team players. You are also technically minded while being a strong communicator, both written and verbally. You will be studying towards your actuarial professional qualification and may also have a background in investments, commerce, economics, engineering, mathematics, or data analytics. Being highly proficient at using Microsoft Office applications is a must (Excel in particular) and experience with coding in languages such as VBA, R or Python would be highly regarded, but not essential.
