Verizon Senior Network Consulting Engineer in Sydney, Australia

What you’ll be doing...

Continuous improvement efforts drive our business and you will work with customer technical teams to provide solutions for customers' internetworking communications requirements. You will be performing routed/switched network design activity for our large enterprise customer data networks. As the main interface to customers in support of their WAN/LAN enterprise projects, you will make us better by building great enterprise customer data networks.

  • Investigating, crafting, planning, and implementing communications networks.

  • Partnering with customer teams to develop solutions that support their requirements.

  • Preparing network schematics to define and illustrate network design solutions.

  • Crafting hardware and software configuration upgrades.

  • Providing IP addressing and routing strategies.

  • Preparing detailed work requests for technicians.

The Verizon Global Support Services (GSS) is offered by Verizon to provide proactive technical services and administrative activities to our clients, while simultaneously providing the 24x7 operations team an escalation point for complex technical issues associated with client specific, customized solutions.

The Senior Network Consulting Engineer develops a sound knowledge of the client environment over time, enabling the engineer to act as a Tier 3 support for the Verizon Service Assurance organizations to deliver an enhanced level of service. The Senior Network Consulting Engineer may also be leveraged to provide specific customized service functions for advanced/complex solutions.

You know how to get to the bottom of your customers’ needs, and how to manage your partners’ expectations. Talking to people comes very naturally to you and you have an ability to communicate complex information in a way that people understand – whether verbal or written.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.

  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification.

  • Experience with Cisco LAN switching, WAAS, Juniper routing and internal wireless products.

  • Project management experience.

  • Experience with contemporary technologies including MPLS, TCP/IP, IPSec, BGP, QoS, IP Telephony, Multicast, and/or other similar tools.

  • Technical knowledge and CCNP experience.

  • Designed and implemented large scale customer networks.

You'll need to have working knowledge of:Cisco Routers and SwitchesCisco Nexus - good understanding of VRF, VSS and Dynamic Routing (BGP), IPSEC vpn tunnelCisco ASA – good understanding of both appliance and chassis modulesCisco Firepower, SourceFireLoad balancing - F5 LTM/GTM, ASM and Viprions

Even better if you have working knowledge of:Infoblox, Algosec, Bluecoat proxy, Unix/Linux and Wintel knowledgeScripting or programming experience

This role requires the individual to work on an On-Call component which will be rotated regularly.
