Eaton Corporation Engineering Program Manager - New Product Development in Syracuse, New York
Eaton’s Electrical Product Group is seeking an Engineering Program Manager – New Product Development for its Crouse-Hinds Division. The Engineering Program Manager – New Product Development position will be located at its Syracuse, NY facility.
This position is responsible for managing New Product Development Engineering projects meeting program timing and budget. This will include leading cross function team resources using the PROLaunch Phase-Gate framework.
The Engineering Program Manager works, personally and through team members, with the Marketing Product Managers, Engineering teams, and Operations personnel to identify product development opportunities and execute assigned New Product Development projects. She/he leads the cross functional team through reviewing specifications, recommending and preparing designs, providing engineering data, developing costs, scheduling projects, preparing technical data, evaluating manufacturing capability, initiating tests, regulatory work (e.g., UL), and certifications. The incumbent evaluates, plans, assigns, and directs assigned projects reporting monthly to the cross functional Steering Committee.

In this function you will:
Manage cross functional team to execute New Product Development projects. This may include global resources as well as external consulting engineering resources.
Execute assigned projects to approved time schedules and budgets.
Provide the technical leadership and know-how necessary to ensure compliance with product specifications, codes and standards
Implement the PROLaunch framework on all assigned projects.
Adhere to all engineering policies, procedures, and standards within Eaton.
Develop program plans and operating mechanisms to successfully execute the plan and deliver per business objectives.
Drive development of a new product with clear goals for product reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability – customer delight.
Be responsible for program staffing, budget, and conflict resolution.
Identify risks and mitigation plans, and carry out changes to plan if necessary to ensure that targets are achieved.
Continuously seek to improve profitability by being aware of costs, but without detracting from perceived product quality
Effectively collaborate with marketing, manufacturing, and sourcing functions on product requirements, design features, and service.
Direct team members in program execution including functional and interpersonal skills coaching as required
Effectively negotiate with engineering internal and external departments for resource allocation, changes in schedule, etc.
Constantly monitor and improve performance of the team to ensure it meets company objectives.
Improve the New Product Development process and assist with training and mentoring of Project Leaders
Develop cost reduction strategies for assigned projects using VA/VE processes to ensure optimized design.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum of 10 years related experience in new product development in marketing or engineering functions.
Cross Functional Program Management experience, preferably PMP or CAPM certified.
Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered.

Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA from an accredited institution
PMP or CAPM certification
Global business experience
Ability to influence others that are not direct reports.
Exceptional communication skills.
Must be capable of leading a cross functional team, meeting schedule commitments, operating within budget, making engineering judgments regarding product problems and deviations from established standards, and be able to recommend solutions suitable for the preferred manufacturing method or process.
The position necessitates that the incumbent has knowledge of program management, Engineering, manufacturing techniques, quality processes, and information systems and requires that the incumbent operate with wide latitude for actions and decisions.
The incumbent must have considerable experience in program management, manufacturing processes, related manufacturing engineering functions, manufacturing systems, or customer communications.
